The morning ride

After a short ride on Saturday with Badger and dinner at Gubbs (farwell buddy!) i was amped for a ride.

Well i got up this morning at 7:00am after not being able to sleep any longer. I had been looking forward to taking the TL out since picking her up on Friday.
Kissed the wife good bye and said i would be back in time for her to go out at 1pm. first point for call out to Huia via scenic drive to have a coffee with the olds. very cold and hard to see though the clouds but a nice brisk ride to start the day. Was well and truly awake by the time that i got to Mums.

After the coffee decided to try and meet up with the guy from the regular weekend ride that leaves from dairy flat, so it was back over scenic drive up to Kumu and up old north and peak road then back toward the caltex. As you can imagine was was late there! sorry guys hope you didn't wait for me.

after gassing up it was back over dairy flat toward kaucop then up and on to Welsford. It has been for to long since i rode that stretch of 16! was followed by an undercover for about 20mins but i wasn't speeding (for a change) so there was no issue there! Stopped in at the Gassy and had a coffee from macers. i decided to take the very long way home.
Some nice cagier warned me about the cop trolling for his weekly quoter which was nice. back up to the look out (about halfway there relised i had forgotten to put my ear plugs in!) stopped and had a chat to to nice guys u there for 15-20mins, warned them about the fuzz and proceed back toward Helensvill. Decided not to go into Helensvill and went back over old north road and back through to Waitakeri. over scenic drive and down mountain road back towards my place.
Got home at 12:45 with a big grin on my face and feeling a lot more comfortable on the bike after 300kms

overall the things i can take away from this morning are:
Mums advise of starting in second gear very helpful. (see i do listen!)
the bike has more power and torque than i will ever use.
Don't miss a gear when shifting up under heavy acceleration.
Gel seats rule!
I need heated grips!

Onya mate.Just wondering,does your TL seem to want to run wide around corners?Have heard it's a problem with the TLR but not sure about the S models.Had a GSXR11 before this and never had any problems with that compared to this.Cheers.

to be honest i have really been taking it easy until i get my head around the bike and get a good feel for it. so i haven't pushed it sorry cant answer that for ya.

Last pair at Cycletreads. $110. I nearly bought them yesterday, but don't want to waste them on the 250, when I'm going for my full in less than 2 weeks.
Everyone who has them swears by them.

I ended up getting thermal glove liners instead, for now.

How do you find the slipper clutch?

Actually, with this printout, they'll do them for $93.97.
Best hundred bucks you can spend on the bike for winter, my more experienced rider friends tell me.

Your experiencing the same thing I am, have only just not long got my bike too and its also a big twin with mother of god where does it end amounts of torque. FTI I had a TL as a loaner not long ago and it was shit loads of fun to ride but really low geared so starting in second was pretty much a good idea.

Your ride sounded like fun.

I've given mine a couple of careful squirts and even lifted the front once so far and damn it was a hoot.
