Oh yeah, he was really stoked for me too as he was wondering how I would handle it. I think he knew I would be okay, but he got a pleasant surprise that I was not totally snail like LOL

I am trying to find someone to take on us ladies down this way LOL

    Where are you?

Your partner sounds like my hubby - doesn't jst throw me in the deep end & worries bout me getting around parts etc - doesn't want me to end up hating it as our whole family does it (boy 5yrs & girl 3yrs).
    I'm in Auckland

    Hahaha SNOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You should have stayed, we had fun. That was my second ride EVER.......
First time ever up at Brooklyn and was rather intimidating, but managed to potter round even with all my issues.....
I had brand new boots on so was having battles trying to get my feet to co-operate with me and I didnt know at the time, but I also needed my gear pedal moved as it was fine in sneakers, but the boots needed more room.
I rode that day, then when we got home we had a play and moved a few things round, gave me some more room for my feet, and adjusted my bars, brake and clutch levers which on my next ride, made a huge difference!!

Looking forward to this weekend if I can get my transport sorted out

    the enduro or trail ride?

i had a mutha of a cold so didn't go but a mate did the trail ride:

"It was the enduro loop from the race the previous day. Glad it wasn’t raining as it would have bben impossible.

Very steep terrain and lots of bogs and knarly uphills in forests!"

    the description in siverbullet was:

"natural farm land open loop riding". wtf

    LOL
Well, as a beginner rider, it was my 4th ride on a motorbike EVER.
My second Trail ride and the first was Otaki about a month ago..... Dry, rolling singletrack style ride, loads of fun.

My experience was pretty hilarious for those lucky enough to watch me but holy hell I was a mess after LOL
I think I spent more time under, or being spat off the side of my bike than on the damn thing and there is so much mud everywhere its beyond funny.
    At one point on the trail, after watching a dozen or so riders battling with an uphill section, I asked a marshall if there was another way out as I was getting exhausted and had pretty much realised it was beyond my capabilities and the marshall replied;
"this is the junior loop and no exits for another 3k or so from what I hear.... they only just told me this was the junior loop, I thought I was on the A track from what I rode on my way up here....."
Shits and giggles.... ended up having someone ride my bike up the biggest muddiest hill I think I've ever seen in my life because I had run out of steam and motivation.... and apparently they got worse past the end of the 8k Junior Loop LOL
Admittedly I kind of screwed myself, a few places there were nana lines which I couldnt see (not enough markings) so I followed the main tracks and took myself up some uphills and downhills beyond what I had ever imagined riding this early on in the piece. I did okay on the downhills, kind of felt better after watching some people not make it down the downhill parts I thought werent too hard, but then felt stink when they rode the uphills I couldnt get up in one go LOL
The very first hill was an A line and instead of going round the outside, I went straight up and got about 3/4 the way up before I fell off LOL
I was lucky that I had a mate riding behind me who pretty much saved my ass and my sanity and taught me a lot in the process about boggy hill starts, bog lines and how to get my ass back up off the ground without falling further down the hill....
I learnt a lot, but the guys said if they had done a loop before me they would have told me not to go out LOL
I did end up getting off the loop at about the 6k mark? There was an off and I was so buggered I was starting to take a few silly offs, so I figured I should get out before I hurt myself LOL

I didnt break my bike, I didnt break myself, have a few mean bruises but had fun.

Hoping the next one is a little easier though........

reminds me of our first year riding, come round the corner and see a huge muddy rutted up hill and wonder to yourself "am i really having fun".

but even after a lot of off's and a couple of trips to a&e it's still a blast to go to work monday and think about the awesome ride on sunday.

    Thumbs up

Did anyone go up to the ride in Foxton on Sunday???
Our pack went up and with 14 of us in our group we had a blast!

I saw Sarah briefly, how did you find the ride chick? Where you saw us, Jo got stuck in the big rut and we had to pull her bike out cause she took the deepest line by accident. Was very grateful to a quad dude who stopped and gave us a hand, her pegs dug into the mud and the two of us werent enough to lift it out LOL

I really enjoyed that ride, but was getting a bit frustrated at losing Jo on the straight stuff.... damn her and her bigger motor LOL

I took the first lap mostly on my own and getting overtaken by my cousin and his mates who were giving me shit till I nearly took him out cause I'm slow through the deep drifty sand. 1st lap I was not too fast, getting a feel for the bike again and figuring out where to go. I accidentally did the first A loop cause my bratty cousin sent me that way telling me that was the way to go and I didnt enjoy the deep sandy hills, but I loved the forest stuff!!!
I skipped the second A loop though and hit the B loop back through the rest of the forest.
I felt quite confident through the forest stuff, reminded me of DH so I enjoyed that. Last ride's mudfest taught me a lot too and I thought I did really well with the paddock bog and all the muddy ditch stuff.

2nd lap I hit with Jo and although the boys passed me in the first rolling hill section, I was doing okay.
She chased me through the first forest section, I chased her through the second. I lost her for a bit in the muddy paddock boggy part but when she caught up, she took me on the second big sandy hilly part.
I chased her back home, although I was right on her through all the mud - cept when she overtook a quad in the sand and I got stuck behind because I am not confident enough to go that fast on sand.

    Was an awesome ride.
There didnt seem to be anything super hard, I managed to ride it all pretty well. Took a couple of loops to choose my line on the deep muddy ditch but made it across.
It was interesting seeing the combination of things to ride, all on one track.
I had only done rolling hills so hadnt seen anything like this but I loved it!
There was; rolling hills, small road sections, farm roads (gravel, sand & soft dirt), forest, mud bogs, deep sand hills, rutty muddy sections, a couple of steep downhills, a couple of steep uphills, technical parts and cruisy full throttle parts.
I would highly recommend that ride for a beginner, as it had a lot of fun parts and everything was rideable. All the big stuff did have nana lines round them if you got stuck too which was awesome to see.

I rode about 70k and today, I hurt LOL
The most riding I had done was about 8k so this was a huge increase and damn I can feel it! Even an hour in the bath didnt help nearly enough......
In saying that, I had so much fun yesterday I felt awesome and I was pretty oblivious to the fact this might hurt today this much LOL

    Did anyone else go along??????

Glad you enjoyed the ride CRFCHICK! After you tackling all the difficult bits we took you on at the Sandpit, I'm sure you would have rocked the Foxton ride! I don't think there'd be much you couldn't accomplish! Good on you, you go girl! You rock!!! Can't wait to see you back in Auckland!!! You would fit into the Wednesday riding team with ease!!!

    Hehe hey hun,

Yeah Jo accidentally took the deep rut and her bike wasnt big enough to make it through so we had to enlist help to lift her bike out. She jammed the pegs into the sides of the rut and was stuck fast!!!!
We'd just got our breath back from that when you came passed us LOL

We thought about catching you but didnt get moving for a bit LOL

    How did you find it???
