The difference being that many studies have been done and found our brains can not manage the task of communicating while drive. Hence the reason why TXTing and talking on a mobil phone is more dangerous than eating, putting on make up, etc.

So why is it taking so long? Obviously not enough people have died from it as a result yet.

It's coz the politicians all do it themselves.

There's a plethora of faults with kiwi drivers/riders. Of course nobody on kb is guilty of any wrongdoing, myself included.

If you're talking about kiwi brains, then I would agree. Most kiwi's find it difficult to chew gum and walk at the same time.

Education is the only option I think. It would be impossible to enforce a law banning cellphone usage etc. You would have police concentrating on what people are doing inside their cars instead of concentrating on the road.

A solution is to have a police officer inside every car. That would fix it.

I'd have ripped the bloody phone out of her hands and smashed the effin thing on the road then stomped on it with my biker boots! She'd get the message then! Stupid flamin cow! I hope it's her insurance paying out and not yours!! Having said this, it's a good lesson to leave an 'out' and watch in your mirrors... ready to make a break if that very event looks remotely likely.

Yep! Texting while driving is a lot worse than talking while driving because your eyes and concentration are on the screen/keypad of the phone instead of where they should be. Was almost taken out by a dumb-arsed bitch who was doing excactly that a couple of years ago so burn the lot of them.

Cheers for the red rep dangerousbastard, just cause I said I text while driving. Now lemme see, I don't need to look at the screen or the keypad while texting, I can put the phone down at any time if I need to for some reason, I send a text after checking ahead as far as possible and it's clear, my eyes are on the road pretty much the whole time during the text.

Now you tell me how this is so much worse than changing a CD? Which would require eyes to be completely off the road, not to mention leaning over etc.

Or any worse than reading a billboard?

All I was saying that I do text while driving if I need to, and I believe that I am able to do it without any repercussions as I choose my time, place and method.

Clearly you ought to be fitting illegal HIDs to your bike/car and blinding all other roadusers with your highbeams 24/7 instead Rob.

    Far safer, evidently.

It's people like you who always know better and always have some rational explanation who get other road users killed. At least dont admit it in public, or cry about the rep... at the very least.

Lol don't admit it? Well apparently you're the one here who think he knows best by saying I'm a danger

If they ban cellphones are they gonna ban lipstick? CDs? Ipods? Handheld pcs?

I agree with the people who've said the individuals who are a danger should be slapped harder, not the individuals who can actually cope with texting and driving.

At least 5 crashes in Karaka have been from people simply changing CDs, one was fatal, when are they gonna ban CDs?

BTW, you've crashed your bike haven't ya? You danger to society you!

    About bloody time too!

While they are at it, they should also change the law so the following are illegal too:

    Tail gating
    Lane changes with no indicators
    Under taking
    Failure to give way
    Running red lights
    Smidsy
    The mormon Few
    Boi racing
    Putting on makeup while driving
    Shall I go on?

It wont make a blind bit of difference making it "illegal".

    Yes do it

    My pet hate to add to your list;

Arseholes that cross the centre line, take the racing line through corners, or simply are unable to take a corner on the correct side of the road

Hang on a minute though, there are a few bikers that do that too

    As you were
