Because the brake lights don't go on when the front brake is applied, they do however go on when back brake is used. The guy at VTNZ said it's the switch that needs to be replaced, how hard is it to fix?

there is a little micro switch on your brake clip on
see if that is all gunked up first, and has 2 wires going to it, before replacing it
If hav eto replace its only a 5 min job really
It may not be fubar'd - it could just be maladjusted, sulking, or dirty. Check these things first.
... and that's what I think.
Or summat.
Or maybe not...
Dunno really....![]()
Check it first...it should be the one that makes a soft clicking sound when front brakes are applied.
Don't just live to ride but ride to live.
Often, one of the 2 wires to it come off.
The red arrow points to the little paddle that activates the switch (which is a spring-loaded pin behind it) and the green arrow points to the contacts that the wires push on to...

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
My mate just had his 87 FZR fail for this very reason. I'm taking a look at it tonight to see if I can spot something he's missed (don't hold out much hope though...)
Thats why i apply both brakes when he askes for the front or the rear![]()
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot
My front brake light wasnt working anyhow I took the micro switch off and to my amazement you could actually pull it apart,I just gave the contacts a bit off clean with sandpaper...and "Bobs your uncle" it was working again..saved a few $$$.![]()
Give a man a gun and he can rob a bank...
Give a man a bank he can rob the WORLD !!!
Sometimes after market levers may not activate switch.Press the microswitch manually before pulling it apart.
Just remembered I took a pic of said switch....

Yeah he checked it with the engine running. And he was bloody rough on my bike as well. He launched it hard and then decided to lock the back wheel in the workshop, and he 'threw' it onto its stand several times without even checking that the stand was put down properly, then he and another guy lifted the front wheel off the ground and tipped it almost onto its side. It's like giving the keys to a WRX to a couple of 15 year olds.
I just passed a WOF myself today (well the bike did). I was a bit surprised that the tester forgot to test the brake light operation, so I prompted him to do so. He said "Thanks" and I said:
"I really would like to know that my brake light works!" FFS.
He then asked me to ride around and do some braking so he could see the dampers working. I said: "OK, pass me my helmet then" and he then said:
"You won't need your helmet as you are only dgoing to be going slowly!!!!"
FFS
There was another KBer there on an RF900, but I can't remeber his name. I wonder if he did the same.
