I was on the ride and didnt take exception to anyones riding (who was in the group, there were a fair few nutters out there who werent riding with us). I followed LW over the Akas and was sweet. He rode well, and I know that he wasnt pushing it cos I kept up with him for over half of it and we know what a pootler I am! I stuck at the back with Tim and Guzza (until he left us to steal the tag) and Tom till Littler river. Each to there own. If you dont like group riding then dont, simple as that.

Would ride with anyone who was on that ride again. Cant believe this thread is still going for a ride that happened 8 days ago.....

See exactly the type of crap that puts you off meeting up for a group ride.

I wonder sir if this carry on would happen face-to-face?

I've met Mr D on a ride quite by chance (hey there are not many of those Guzzis around) and some of the other CHCH riders as well. Fine bastards they were too. I do remember Mr D having to go back to pick up his gloves from the Hill Top tavern and really thats the only type of ribbing that should be posted on KB after a group ride. That an photos of our fine machines.

I'll correct response to this now.

I'm not convinced that riding with people you know justifies risky riding, and therefore it does not give you the right to tell others it's dangerous, even if it isn't, and especially if you weren't there.

the ones who've informed me of Ds antics are riders he doesn't know, or ride often with, which just goes to prove the point that he's a hypocrite.

a vehicle coming in the opposite direction is deadly regardless of whether you're riding with a group of people you know or not, having a head on collision with a truck at 100kph is just as deadly whether you're riding with people you know, people you don't know or solo, no matter how you look at it you're going to die.

However if I were to actually accept these accusations of wheelies and dodgy overtakes as truth then scorn him for it then I'd be no batter than the man himself, so I accept MVnuts word that Ds riding is probably safe, as stated my informants aren't people he rides with so they don't get a good idea of what he's really like, and then you get the classic motorcyclist exaggeration of facts (fishing stories eh D? IT WAS THIS BIG!) and as such I'd expect the same respect when I say that LWs long wheelie wasn't that long, nor was it that dangerous, and he's actually a pretty good dude and you guys have clearly got him on the defence so knock it off.

oh and I don't ride with D either, not a personal choice, I just like to ride faster than 90kph :P

Well i looked on your post for a nice ride to follow and, well there was all this shite that should not have happened, but sounds like the ride went on and, well what can I say about the destination. Lucky buggers to have such a loverly place to ride to.

Fuck, you're away from the forums for a year or so and shit's still the same. I'll ride with all of yers, I'm in control of myself enough to not get to tangled up in other peoples riding styles, and hey we all know I love to hoist up a wheelie or two every so often.

Ride to enjoy yourself, all I can say. If you don't like someones style, distance yourself from them but don't think your any better or whatever 'cos ain't none of us innocent. But keep the bitching on the forums, it's great for a larf.

PLUS ONE!! [Not that I can wheelie to save myself!!] As far as group rides are concerned-Dangerous is the man as leader. He is no angel, but that keeps things fun, and if he has a comment re my riding, I take him seriously, based on his experience. I would rather try and learn than crash.
The Akaroa GP is a fun road. I ride it fast[ish], not to prove anything, but because I enjoy it so much....and for me, thats what riding is about.

Well, we all ride for different reasons - personally I do it to have an excuse to engage in meaningful and reasoned debates here on KB. Fun? Heaven forfend anyone should have fun on a public road...

And that's taking the piss, if anyone was uncertain.
