depends on the breed of can, the Mistrals on my 1100 sport were soooooooooo mint, the neptunes on the V11 are a bit quite, but thats ok cos the sound of the induction is awesome.

Got a chance to hear a Yamaha MT-01 today with a stage-one kit (Akrapovic slip-ons).

Sounded absolutely amazing. The engine in the MT-01 generates 19 litres of exhaust gas per second at idle.

I must agree, the Britten sounds great.

One of the most memorable sounds I've heard was a Vincent sidecar chasing us around Western Springs on full noise. I think it was supercharged. Yes, I know, it's not stock/ street but it sounded great!

I think there are many other very nice sounding bikes out there - including Duc's, Honda & Suzuki vees, fours with nice pipes & even my KTM. Not Harleys.

Somewhere here I have recordings of the Guzzi 500cc V8 but it would be nice to have heard it for real. Then there was that period of extravagance in the 60s when Honda came up with a 50cc twin, a 125cc I L four and the 250cc six. That would have been special.

The litre Moto GP bikes were special too, sweetest sounding was the Suzuki V4 by a small margin, but they were all startlingly loud.

Of course if you spent too long listening to those you probably can't hear all that much these days

What a cool thread. A great celebration of motorcycles, and everyone universally agrees - motorcycles sound awesome!

    "Wow, Great advise there DB."
