Telecom's new un-capped data plan "Big Time"

Go Large will be turned off. Users will be offered an option to move to other plans - including "Big Time".
"Big Time" is full speed up and down, Go Large is full speed down only.

Data shaping only peak times from 3pm through 10pm.

Normal Internet traffic will not be shapped at all - only large files and some types.

Shaping works on a cache based rule. If you are the first one to download a large Apple update then you will be shapped. Once the file is cached, then it's full speed for everyone else.

Telecom to offer $59 a month all-you-can-eat data plan - but with throttling

Will be turned off?? This says it already has, but I'm still on Go Large.

Two years ago, its Go Large plan was taken offline after the Commerce Commission said Telecom had failed to highlight the fine print.

But with the event of this new plan telecom will turn off golarge for good.

The big change is the full-speed uploads.

Should make Big Time usable for people who upload to sites like Flickr/YouTube etc.

I saw rumors on Geekzone that it can be an upgrade option (I assume for $10) for those on Total Home as well so all good.

I might be able to stop paying for a seedbox just to seed all my linux isos.. LOL.

Then again with a possible replacement for Section 92 on the agenda still, maybe the seedbox and the privacy it brings is still a good idea.

Resonable offer, how much is the Go Large? $49? or $59? If it's $59 would make sense for people on Go Large to switch.

Will have to wait and see what Telecom does to existing Go Large customers. Bulk migration or change at will.

Interesting OECD stats last in Data Caps but still up there in penetration. The Koreans seem to be getting a good deal.
