3 dayer (makes ferry costs more justifiable) in either Dec or Feb and I'm in.

    could we squeeze in Anatori?

I was also thinking about that Yamaha safari - keep in touch on that one. Its rides like this that prompted my bike change.
When do you have to register for that ride by?

Can anyone please tell me what the season opening dates are for the Molesworth and Rainbow roads. Cheers

I think it'd be too much to work it in date-wise (and finance-wise) with the DB1K and Safari so how does a Feb ride sound?

    Also........

Extending it to 3 days and bringing in Golden Bay?
Cob, Mangarakau, Aorererere Gold Fields etc...

    Maybe???
Would there be any interest in doing it in early November? - contemplating a trip then ending up in Whangarei for a NZGA conference. Could maybe meet up at Hamner and then ride the rainbow together on way back up to Nelson??

I could be in so long as it doesn't clash with the southern DB1k.

Ryan (i think) started a thread on this, with the latest updates 'cos it has changed a bit recently.

Molesworth & Rainbow are just a good days ride out for Tots riders. No real need to organise rides for it - just post up a week or two before anyone wants to ride it & there'll be someone ready to join ya. There's always traffic through in Summer so it's not really like being in Mongolia.

Maybe we Nelsonites can get together for a ride (or blow someones bike up at shed nite) sometime & talk about options.

Think that 3 day option would be the best for us Northerners and weather is likely to be better in Feb.

    Molesworth season

The only problem with an early run thru Rainbow/Molesworth is gaining access before they officially open the road for the summer season. Usually it opens between Xmas and New Year which counts out early December unless someone can arrange a key for the gates.

Both the Rainbow and the Molesworth open on the 28th December now (Rainbow use to open early Dec). You can get access to the Rainbow before this if you arrange the key but never tried to get access to the Molesworth early/late.

I reckon if you are going to do this as a 2 or 3 day tour you should drop the Murch south section and loop from Murch (still do Porika/Breaburn) back north to Golden Bay.

Yep. Would make it a lot more relaxed over in The Bay and probably get to Mangarakau in time to overnight at the old schoolhouse (just have to make sure we can book it) and 100m back up the road to the Nugget Cafe for dinner...

I am also keen for a two or maybe a three day ride. Waitangi day is a Friday (5.2.10?) so that would be a good time to have it to save a days leave.

Correct me if I'm wrong but as the 6/2/10 i.e. Waitangi Day is on a Saturday this year we don't get a day off i.e. no long weekend. All my searching suggest this is the case but I'm hoping I'm wrong.
