yallo, got meself a uz125 as well. mean little buggers!
parts? wouldve thought Suzuki woudl be the first place to go...
Where are you based?
In Auckland, the UZ125 doesnt SEEM to have much street presence.
In terms of scooters, people here seem to go for the expensive Vespas/other Euros or the cheap Chinese scoots, rather than the Japanese balance of quality/value. Go figure.
This could possibly be the driver for lack of bunged up UZ125s maybe?
For other parts, would suggest Scootling (in Auckland)
Am myself in process of getting a 166cc and gear-up kit set up on my beastie with Scootling.
Should have me max-ing near 120kmh (according to documentation). On a scoot just over the 100kg mark.
130kmh is a bonus, but really am doing it more for the 80-110kmh performance gains.
Will see how it goes!!!
Do you smell that? Two Stroke, son.Nothing else in the world smells like that.I love the smell of Two Stroke in the morning.

cheers mate will give you a call.
With some change left over from $2.2k, I'm sitting on a "UZ161" or "V161G".
Approx stats as a 125cc:
0-100kmh in 25-30 sec (I lost count, you cant blame me can you? and bad memory)
Maxes at an indicated 105-110kmh.
Fuel economy of 3l/100km (91octane)
(anyone else got better bang from their UZ125?)
Approx stats as a 161cc after 100km of running in as advised by Scootling...:
0-80kmh in 10sec
0-100kmh in 18sec ish
Takes about 30sec to get to 120kmh max on the flat and little/no headwind.
This was the stock speedo's max anyway.
This 120kmh was what was indicated as per the product info.
Fuel economy of 3.3 and 3.1l/100km in past 2 fills of 96+octane
In comparison, a stock Vespa 250 is pretty similar as my 161cc. But my Japanese/Italian lovechild has cost half the price...
(using Vespa250 info from here...http://visforvoltage.org/forum/5624-...500-amp-xm4500)
I would imagine if the Gear-Up kit wasnt in place, the 0-80 and 80-100kmh acceleration would be better. But the 120kmh top end and the 3.1l/100kmh economy would probably be lost?
Useable power?
A suburban hill in Auckland (Howe St in Ponsonby?) could JUST have me at 50kmh going up it.
At 161cc, its still accelerating past 50kmh. Not that I would need to go much faster here...
On a section of slightly inclined motorway (South Eastern Arterial heading onto the bridge back to Ti Rakau after the S-bend) the 125cc had me going at 80kmh.
161cc has me at 100kmh, and still accelerating.
Still, nothing to compare to my 650, and a dude on what think was a DNA180 tore by me on the motorway when i was chillin at 110kmh.
From new, this 161cc has cost just under $5k, and when compared to a similar output scoot (e.g. Vespa 250) I would say that its a LOT of scoot for the $$$.
Air intake is yet to be played with too...might leave THAT till later...if at all!
Pity the injected UZ125 has been replaced, as a new model in NZ, by the carbied (and pansier looking IMHO) AN125
Churrrs to Andreas, Greg, and the fullas out back at Scootling

I just tested my GT200 on a flat onramp, slight headwind, using the second-hand on the clock display. It got 0-80 in 9 seconds and hit 100 in 13s. The 250 has a lot more torgue so suspect that it will beat that by a good couple of seconds.
Having said that, you are getting phenomenal performance out of a 161! My worked PX200 (with a Malossi kit) was nowhere near that fast!
is it just the engine youve modifyed, what about exhaust/intake?surely better breathing both ends would make more difference, ive seen some pretty trick hot up bits for these and you could spend a small fortune on them
These are my times from 2 years ago at the drags
have done a bit more since so I shall have to go again
This was a standard runner 180cc 2T
60 foot 2.578
1/8 11.493 91.11 Kmh
1/4 18.587 102.74 Kmh
That was into a strong head wind
and I did have a few pies on the way to the drags
Problem is that most servos now have ponsonby pies in them or bake there own so its a smorgasbord out there of pies
I have a modded jog that does 90k and powerstands off the throttle, with a stock trans!
I first went to Andreas keen on a transplant from the Burgman 250 (even 400!!!)
but he convinced me against it due to cost vs benefits...
i was KINDA disappointed with what performance increases from a 161cc were available - compare to an FXR150, the FXR would cane i wouldve thought! rode a mates 150 awhile back, so just speaking from memory...
BUT accepted that this was what was available, and am OK happy with it =)
I'm guessing the CVT vs Manual transmission is whats holding the scoot back!
I probably should get a stopwatch to see what the time numbers really are...
But the 80-100kmh time just feels soooooooo looooooooong... as witht the VERY variable 100-120kmh time.
While at at an indicated 118/120kmh tucked in, if i sit up it pretty much immediately drops down to just over 110kmh. If i have a backpack, or anything in the trunk, it maxes around 115kmh...
So i was kinda surprised in that a 30% increase in cc (35cc) gave maybe a 15% increase in reliable top speed. But ive read somewhere about the non-linear realationship between velocity and power required to increase velocity due to wind/other resistance.
But the mid-range certainly feels alot more comfy than before, which was my main concern...and with the hill and lane splitting abilities it has now i am a bit more happpy than with the stock 125cc![]()
