Looking forward to full vid Keith.

That hairpin & deep sandy climb seems to have been the bane of many. Struck worst snarl up 1st lap, I slipped round the outside and tucked in behind a dude who'd just got going again. I took the biggest sand bath I've ever experienced but kept head down & stuck right behind him, smiling all the way up. Was freaky fun getting sprayed with that much sand.
Last 2 laps i could hardly hang to bars by the end of those soft whoops, but a mate reckoned that section was his favourite bit!
    How's those ol' knees Reckless?

Funny thing is I hobble round the pits like an injured lamb but they don't bother me at all on the bike?? Funny as? Been to the specialist he said rest them YEH right!!!
The main draw back is I can't do anything off the bike to get fit, not even allowed to go for a walk. I was bloody knackered! Was lookin to be the leader in the 2man as my son has only done 60 hours riding in his life, but I let us down a bit! Another 10 or so mins saved over my 2 laps and we would've made it in and been out for another full lap and a shit load better placing.
Ah well, it is, what it is, had a fun day with my son thats all that really matters!!!!!!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

I reckon a bit of adrenaline does wonders for the pain threshold. I gave my knees a fair hammering in my ski-bum days blatting down icy moguls. They're mostly not too bad at all but yesterday were a bit sore so thought of you! Don't go beating yourself up too much over your times, I'm far from happy with mine too, but you only ride a coupla times a month. You two did the event and that's such a great thing to do. 1st race under your belts now.

Ha ha. No, that'll too much of the sponsor's product! Seriously, shakes not a good sign, take it easy. Maybe a bit hypoglycemic as well, low blood sugar. I use these little packs of go goo from supermarket for pit stops (Just checked = 'EAS energy gel') fast & easy to ingest and you can really feel the energy kick in a few minutes later. Need to start treating yourself a bit better Barty.

I can't wait till Jack is old enough for me to get him a bike!

Surely swimming would be good for your knee?

I found using one of those handheld electric shock zapper things where you can direct little pinpricks of electric shocks to the areas you can't knead with your thumb works well in stimulating the muscles around the knee. You get nice muscle spasms going and the occasional knee jerk. I've managed to build up the muscle above the knee again because I found that wasting away with lack of use. It's helped heaps in reducing the excrutiating pain into a just dull ache if I overuse it. It means I can keep playing squash too.

I've found the best exercise for my knees is mountain biking, tried road cycling, but it was too 'constant',. With the mountain bike I grunt and groan to the top of a rise (was going to say 'mountain', but who am I kidding) then coast down the other side.. Work/rest/work/rest = less strain..... I tried swimming, but the knees don't like the kicking action. If you thought I looked ridiculous in a togs before I stuffed my shoulder .................Bikini top just won't hang right anymore...

Thinking I might have a go at a rowing machine, but maybe a dingy would be more fun and again, more natural movement. Have to wait for shoulder though........

I must admit I have never imagined what you'd look like in togs but I wish I was wearin sunnies to protect my eyes when you bared your back for all to see!!
I had an electric mountain bike once, that was fun to power up hills..now that was good on the knees!
