    CB1300 needs seat changed

    Hi,
Have just bought a CB1300, mint. The previous owner was 6"3 and had the seat reupholstered so he sat up higher. I am 5"9 and find that I sit too high up and the givi screen gives me a fair bot of turbulence in the face.

Is there a local (Auckland) place that can redo the seat?

    Cheers

Chooky on kb here has had the seat on his CB1300 done at MacDonald Motor Trimmers ( "Rider" seat)... talk to him when he's back from holiday, he likes his

One thing on the 1300 seat. I know someone with one and apparently in an attempt to lower the seat height after the first model Honda just reduced the foam - no changes to the base. He said it's pretty crap for a tourer and has a sheepskin for long rides.

    Nice bikes.

Sounds like you just want the stock seat back on it.

It might be easier to buy an aftermarket super comfy GEL seat.

As per Pussy's comments about Chooky's bike, the Rider brand conversions are outstanding. I had mine done on the 'bird for the same reasons you want yours done. Have a look at the examples on: http://www.trimit.co.nz/.

Mac at Rider seats can make pretty much whatever you want.

Tauranga isn't exactly in Auckland but it isn't the opposite end of the earth either. You'll only have to do half the trip on the wrong seat and Tauranga should be within the comfort range of a CB1300.

Ring Mac and make a booking, he'll do it "while you wait". Hopefully you will get better weather than I did :-)

Mac does a huge number of motorcycle seats, of course you could always follow the KB trend and try to re-invent the wheel, and pay someone else to learn at your expense

Yeah he is good like that sometimes. I can vouch for the comfort of the CB1300 seat from a pillion perspective. Not a sore bum in 2000kms last big trip we took.

I took my CB13 down to get a rider seat on it a couple of years ago, it is the only thing i have had to do to the bike in 3 years.
Lose the Givi screen, the CB doesn't need it & it just creates turbulence for the rider.

Have taken screen off. Turbulence has gone but the wind blast is tiring. I reckon I might need a super large screen that I can put on for long distance and then get rid of it for day to day stuff. Now where can I get a super sized screen?

You get used to the windblast, it has the effect of slowing you down a little & reducing the need for a radar detector
I find the use of a screen is often detrimental to the overall performance of the bike especially in a crosswind, you would be better off trading to a bike with a full fairing instead if thats what you really want. The other option is to stay with a naked bike & alter your riding style to suit.

You get the sensation of going a bit quicker than you actually on the big Nakeds. I have also found that, this one time (no not in band camp) where I was up around the 150 mark, it all seemed smoother, weird.
