What cool fun! But do those bikes like kinda gonky or is that the "new modern look" ? Sorta awkward looking front on them or something.

Kinda "gonky" looking, what are ya thinking? Nah mate, those rally fairings act to house the navigation gear and offer more protection against rider fatigue, these boys need to stand for hours on end on some of those 800km days.
Jesus Steve, wrong forum to be so blasphemous in! Good question tho, it's generating interest already

    It's the "Dakar" look.

With the roll chart, GPS, HID's and extra junk up front...
Not to mention 30 odd litres of fuel tanks.

Ahh, well I will apologise for my almost-disparaging remark. It seems it was based on my ignorance of what cool gadgets must be fitted to these machines for normal operation. Here was I thinking it was some phallic new motorcycle styling.

A bunch on HIDs on there will light the place up nicely I'd say.

As you were. Wish it was me.

Prologue results are up, all the Team Kiwi are good to race the main event.
Looks like the lighter dirt bikes nailed the first 15km prologue stage, some fast times so far.
Jaybo placed 29th, 3.37 behind leader
Andrew placed 41st, 7.20 behind leader (ahead of Dakar racer Annie Seel)
Rob placed 54th (last place), 18min.31 behind leader. Hope his body has recovered okay from roo crash earlier this year, and no bike problems.
Two DRZ400's and the 1983 BMW R65 are well placed, ahead of JayBo at this stage! Ben, go talk to those DRZ boys, check out their kit!

Damn I wish we had some TV coverage

One day to go in the Safari now, after 7 days of racing, our boys are doing well in the GC.
Jaybo currently 14th overall, and Andrew 24th from the original field of 54 starters. Unfortunately Robin had to withdraw on Day 4 after his bike expired.
Proud of you fellas, hang in there to the end
Can't wait to shoot the shit when you're home Ben and Andrew.
