This is the first year they came here, 1988.
    1989: Race 1, Mike Dowson 1m 15.57s wet. Race 2, Aaron Slight 1m 08.17s dry.
1990: Race 1, Terry Rymer 1m 08.48s, Race 2, Rob Phillis and Raymond Roche
    1m 08.39s.
    1992: Race 1, Aaron Slight 1m 07.38s, Race 2, Doug Polen 1m 06.97s.
Dug out some Motocourses to check times.
    Thanks Gav,
I searched for ages but couldn't find anything.
I haven't race at Manfield for some 15 years, but will be there for the first round of the NZPCRA in Sept (Vic round 5)
I was pretty sure Tony Rees was doing 1:11 on the OWO1 which would seem correct. I doubt any of the pre'89s (even with 1000+cc) will get close to that time.
As my budget only allows for second hand slicks, I think they would be a match for 20 year old tyres.

    I'm guessing thats a typo and I assume Shaun meant 1988 gsxr750.

In the late 80's, the NZ nats boys were doing 12's and the odd high 11's. Bob Toomey was the first domestic nzer to crack a "10" and that was on a gsxr1100.

Surely the track condition has got worse or new f1 bikes would be sub 1minute on modern rubber with latest suspension and power delivery?

And if my memory is correct it was a GSXR frame and a mildly tuned Power Shield 1100 engine ...... was that the same bike ???

You will have to show me the racing line before you start doing sub 13's.
What is the pit area like? Will I need to book a garage for power outlets?

Yep, that's the one. He modified it more when Glen Williams the 1st turned up with a Nico Baker framed Gsxr1100.

If ya get there early enough and get a good lean-to stall there is limited power there. they're free. But for peace of mind a garage is a good option, there's 3 types.
    Old single (2 bike) $75ish
Old double skyline (6 bikes no probs) $120 I think
New pit complex garage........expensive but nice (6 bikes if ya dont need alot of room) but 2 hundy a day!

    All have power.
