    Arrow Attention Auckland traffic lane splitters!

    For those of you who havent heard yet, there will be a replacement structure being built for the Newmarket Viaduct bridge. As a result the southbound lanes will be reduced in width, from 3.5m to 3.1m. This will start on Monday 24.08.09 Aparently it was sheduled for this monday just passed, but it was postponed due to wet weather concerns.

    Just a heads up to those of us who comute it regulary in heavy traffic.

    Oh, rage. I'll refrain from commuting during rush hour and try to avoid that part of the motorway altogether...

    You do realise that you don't actually go over that bit of the motorway between uni and yours?

    Thanks for the news. It gets pretty congested down there and unless you have nothing better to do, splitting down the middle is the only way.

    Will just have to breath in a bit.

    Isn't it 80Km/h through there now anyway, or does that start a bit closer to Spaghetti Junction?
    It's been a little while since I've been through there but I have a vague recollection that there was an 80km/h speed limit just as you got onto the viaduct (from South).
    Then again the memory could be shot....

    The speed limits will be going 80km/h -> 70km/h -> 100km/h.

    Just to keep you on your toes.

    Ha...it's getting more and more like Aussie all the time!
    Though they would have managed to squeeze a couple more changes in speed limit into that short space....

    no, the speed limit as soon as you get on the actual bridge is 100km, but not for long anyway.

    I lane split though there all the time.

    It dosen't matter what the posted speed limit is once the 140m lifting gantry is put in place everyone will slow down to look. As it's going to be in place for the next 2 years get used to it.

    cheers
