    Good motorcycle shop mechanics?

I took my bike in to a motorcycle shop on Friday last week , i wanted the popping and back firing fixed on my 03 YZF450.

Shop said maybe the valve clearances etc, so that's fine. Left it with them picked up Friday they said valve clearances were fine cleaned jet and drained carby and replace spark plug.

Went out for ride on Sunday, throttle jammed on 3 times, Never done this before, bike wouldn't hold an idle for longer then 5 seconds before it would stall, when it did stall took 30 attempts to kick it over.... Before taking it in to the shop it would take 1-2 kicks when hot or stalled and its still back firing and popping on decel !.....

So its come out pretty much worse then what it went in!, and my other mates 08 YZF450 went in to a different shop to get the head gasket done and blew the top off the engine out on a race the day after.

I am mechanically minded done heaps of work on cars etc rebuilds blah blah just don't have time anymore on my bike apart from the normal maintenance. (Air filter, oil, oil filter, spark plug) so would pay someone to do it... if only it would come out better then it went in !

So anyone have ANY good experience with shop Mechanics in Wellington or is there a Mechanic on here from Wellington ?

I have been told that Sargent Motorcycles Ltd in Carterton are really good i don't mind the trip... But yea...

bike mechanics are just like car mechanics ie finding a good one can be hard.

all i can say is that time is money and the faster a mechanic can do the job the more money they make from it.

best just to do it your self and take your time and get everythink 100 %

I do most things myself but when needed or just for advice I use Phil at Bike Clinic 2007 Ltd in Pram. Bloody nice guy and ya usually get stuck there talking for some time. Hasn't failed to impress me yet and has done work cheaper and quicker than quoted elsewhere. Definately reccomended.
