Finally found a use for my Supermoto rims

The 525 eats Knobbies like a fat guy eats pies . Lucky to get 1000-1500kms out of a rear. Seeing as the mighty 525 would only really need knobbies for going way of road I thought I'd try some dual purpose tyres on on 17" rims for the adventure rides that mainly take in gravel roads.
I fitted up a 110/90x17 Pirelli MT60 to the front and a 140/80x17 Mitas E-07 on the rear. Went out Klondyke road (huntin farmers ) and then along the beach at Port Waikato and took the seal home. They worked great even in the sand - and that sand at Port Waikato gets mighty soft I tells ya. Only problem was the sand stuck to the rear rim and upset the balance and when I got up to speed on the seal the wheel was bouncing a bit so stopped at a boat ramp and washed it off . In summary - lots smoother on the highway with the added benefit of a cush drive hub, more than acceptable on the gravel/beach and didn't seem to mind the small bit of mud I found. So now I have knobbies and chunkies
Here's some pics of the tyres. No pics of ride as I didn't take the camera

That front just looks so huge on a dirt bike! Still, you say it works.

Might have an E-09 rear for you to try next..........

Nice setup, I also find tires like those (I have the Saraha 3's) work pretty well in the sand.

Been considering getting some 17 inchers for the 690, I would love to have some more rubber on the road sometimes.

I assume that the MT60 is a rear that you've reversed?

I had the same tyre ready to go on my DR-Z400SM front, but wasn't quite brave enough to fit it, so now it's got a home on the back of my DR250...

Yes it is a rear but it seems to be ok on the front.

Might take you up on that then I'd only have to change the front wheel depending on the ride

Shouldn't have to be, I thought the main reason MT60 were still made/sold was to fit motards - ie 17" front & rear. May not be available in lil' ol' NZ though.

I ran a MT60 Corsa's in 160 rear/120 front sourced in Nelson on my Nordie.

They're OEM on the little Gilera.
