Teach its owner to fix it and it'll break in some way you've never seen before.
Seems pretty stupid IMHO. $5K fairing on a $15K bike. Why not just use oggi knobs (or similar) and do a bulk deal with a very cheap aftermarket fairing supplier? If there's a $2K excess then I'd imagine most racers and track-day junkies will be bringing their own bikes.

The prices are quite high, but it all depends on what you think it is worth to you to want to do it or not.
Don't sit on here complaining about how high the prices are.
The costs are high too.
Trackday price =
Bike rental =
Gear rental =
Crash deposit =
Excess tyre use cost =
Insurance excess credit card authorisation or cash holding =
So it can add up.
But, if you want to do it, you will do it, if not or you can't afford it, then that is just life ay? Bet some of you want to own a Desmoseidici also, but can't afford it. Don''t see any of you complaining about Ducatis pricing.
The model about how to run, build and set up the bikes has been well worked out in the US and Oz over many, many years. So if they believe that reinforcing the fairings rather than fitting all sorts of slidy knobs is best, then I would suggest that it probably is.
Good luck to them. This can only make our sport and hobby in NZ more sophisticated and gain exposure.

I thought that I should put a few things straight here. We are not paying $5000 per bike for paint. We have 14 bikes to paint so $70,000 is a bit high.
This came about from a guy talking to the painter about our bikes and then looking at a full set of Yoshimura race bodywork that was going to go onto the GSX-R1000s that we have. He asked how much is that worth and he was told $5K. This was for the Yoshi bodywork not the paint. This bodywork is not going on our bikes it is now going on the Suzuki team bikes. We have bodywork from Racers Edge in Australia.
Bike rental: you need to be licenced to ride a 600 or have a race license with suitable race history.
We have two options on hire. One with insurance and one without.
Without = $4,500 excess
with = $1,000 excess
All bikes have Oggy knobs and axle armour.
Our bodywork is reinforced in certain areas with fibreglass, not carbon.
I hope this answers some questions but I am happy to answer any questions that you may have.
Every motorcycle handles perfectly. Then the rider gets on.
