What happened to the neon blue ones?

    Howdy all

After riding a triumph daytona 675 when i got my full i decided it was definately the bike for me... especially in neon blue *drool*.

Now after some saving, selling and a little help from the bank it looks like i can afford a second hand one. (yay to myself)

Only problem is i have been watching trademe for a while now and it seems the blue ones must of been the only good ones, or no-one brought them.
Because i have seen not a one up for sale.

So just wondering firstly if anyone brought one? secondly do you know of any up for sale/coming up for sale soon?

    Cheers all

Bikes are so easy to respray it's not funny. Buy a shit coloured one that no one wants on the cheap and paint it a custom blue.

Get one in the white, with the blue frame. Looks awesome, IMO. AMPS have one just inside the side door. Very cool.

Where did you come up with that idea? Bikes are particularly difficult & time consuming to paint, at least if you want it to look like it hasn't been done by a nine year old with a spray bomb. It is going to cost some serious money to get a professional to do it & is out of reach of most people to DIY a decent finish suitable for a newish bike. Even the cost of Decals would scare you.

The cost could damn near be the difference between a good one & a new one.

Bullshit. The decent finish can be achieved by having a proffessional apply a couple of coats. The prep you can do yourself for less than five bucks. It's not expensive at all in relation to the total cost of the bike, and in pulling your fairing off you'll find things to clean and learn about your bike. I don't know where you're getting your decals from but I suggest you stop letting people pull your pants down and arse rape you.

nah, bikes are pretty easy to respray. Strip everything back to bare frame, sand and send frame to powder coaters, 2 hundy and theyll probly do the wheels as well. Sand and spray fairings, nother 3 hundy if your get good paint, which at that price youd be silly not to, of course this assumes you have the equipment and know how to get a good paint finish.

depends where you go for the repaint - the guy I use does top work including spray decals that look better than the original and I figure it'd be around $1500 for a full paint job ... course you'd have to pay cash

Holy shit. I can respray (that's just a skim and a top coat, not bare metal or anything too heavy) fairings and tank for under a hundy.

The longevity of your paintjob leans quite heavily on the quality of the preparation and the suitability/compatibility of your primers and repairs. You will not prepare fairings to a reasonably standard for 'five bucks'. You can't even buy a spray can of the shittiest primer for that sort of money. Or something like prepsol to clean them before you even think about picking up a gun.

Will they supply and fit new bearings to the swingarm and wheels for that 2 hundy? Or shall we just ham it up and leave them in?

nah, you just gotta be real careful taking out and replacing the current ones. Or if youre unsure of the previous service history, its probly a good time to replace em anyway

I,m amazed you're not painting every bike in the country at that price, lets see, when i painted mine... lime green paint (admitidly it's candy, so a bit dearer) $170 p-lt, 2 litres if you want to do a proper job, so $340, if I hadn't had 1 lying around then an hvlp spray gun's gonna cost you $3,500 good body filler (not that crap you buy from bunnings) $50. Fark it next time I'll give you a call and take you up on your $100 offer! cash of course i presume
