    Fuel drip

No not the dude at the pump...
Today I filled the bike and noticed that, even though I entered $15 in the key pad, it cut off at $13.50 and then trickled through to $15.
Surely this means that even though you are paying for what you entered, you dont get the amount that you pay for? The gas is not pumping right though to click off point.

doesnt it just slow the fuel fill rate down for the last $1.50 so it measures it properly? or did it stop completely?

Every petrol pump has to have a certificate of accuracy on it to verify it has been tested and measured. As long as the pump has that it should be correct.

Possibly, the slow flow rate towards the end is equalled to the slower dollar counter. But the petrol really does slow to a 'taking a piss rate'.

No dosen't stop, but im not convinced that you are getting all that you pay for, could add up to a tidy wee sum over a year and then multiply that by the millions of petrol fills over a year throughout NZ...

true enough, If you want to be a really smart shopper, always fill up when its really cold, as the petrol shrinks when its cold so you fit more in your tank! Incedentaly thats why petrol tankers are painter reflective colors like silver or white, keeps the fuel cold so they can charge you more for it.

Interesting....so buying a bike with a White or Silver tank could in essence, be more fuel efficient?

well, no, cos once the fuel is in you bike it doesnt really matter how much space it takes up, it contains the same energy either way, you can just fit more in, like the motogp guys used to cool thier fuel tanks and fuel to get more, think they stopped that now though.

It's just slowing down to ensure accuracy.

Otherwise if it kept pouring at it's normal 10L/min right up until it clicked off at $15, then there would probably be people moaning that there's no way that this could possibly be accurate, it must be over/underfilling me, boohoo the petrol companies could be stealing millions from us each year by not slowing it down to a more measurable and accurate rate right before the pump clicks off.

Hey mate, the V8 Supercar filler fullas can pump it in at an alarming rate, its not beyond the realms of probablity that it could be done at any normal servo pump. Surely if this were the norm then it could be possible that the customer may get a tad more (a few more drips if you will) when filling. But then again, some people really get threads and some dont.

Wait, so when it's the fuel companies getting a extra few cents per fill-up and gaining "millions" in extra revenue then you consider it to be "criminal", but when it's YOU getting the extra few cents and the fuel companies losing the "millions" it's all fine and hunky-dory.

    Hypocrisy, anyone?
