Yes, and severe penalties for non-compliance.

Fuck yeah. EVERYONE has just got to stick their finger in the fucking pie.

I wish there was a way to get around them.

Might as well wind the odometer back to pay less money for RUCs.

Tempting innit, but very large penalties for that.

Not sure for overdue RUC on its own but I heard of a guy stung $2,400 for no WOF no Rego and out of date RUC by about the same amount as your 'friend'

I've just looked up the requirements for a WOF and it lists speedometers only. There was nothing in there about odometers. So....??

You have to have a working odometer for a diesel fueled vehicle. Go look it up it bothers you. It doesn't bother me. If you want to test it out, pull your odometer out and go wave it under the fuzzs' nose and show them some attitude and tell us what happens.

Wind it back & see if they will pay you!

The greedy pricks, RUCs have nearley doubled in the last 5 years for me.

I love paying $106 for a COF check so a failed mechanic can play lil hitler.

Lets see I havent ever been pulled up for a cof/ruc/rego check over the last 7 years

    2 COF's per year @ 106 a time
    rego about 400
    Road users about a grand
cost per year to keep cof guys "happy" above practical safe maintainance $1000 per year

Over 3 trucks thats nearly 8k a year, thats 56k over 7 years! Hmmm I think I can make some savings by taking a bit of a risk.

I feel for ya... Im a truck mechanic, and the crap the station fails some of the trucks on is un believeable. (a cracked tail light lense FFS? A tear in a rubber mudflap, moisture in a side marker lamp, cuts in tyres from driving on gravel roads, the list goes on). Would like to see what the story was if they ran their own trucks.

+1 They are not consistant . You can go back for a recheck having made repairs & they will find something else.

Timber020, don't even think about it, they will catch you eventually & the fines will be substantial

Had a mechanic who failed my ute on all sorts, while it was getting repaired i used their courtesy car, which funnily enough had a wof despite horn not working, bald tyres, windscreen wipers that would jam half way. what a sack
    Thats whats up.

On old vehicles it isn't that hard to wind the odometer back. A lot of the old Japanese cars that used to come in before the stupid fucking government changed the laws on importing vehicles had wound back odometers.

Put the price of drills up, see if i care !!! The day i will worry is when the apprentice comes back with an excuse, rather than the long wait !!!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

That's OK, I don't have a diesel vehicle. I was just wondering "out loud" and hoping to get an answer from a more credible poster than you!
