I dont mind at all, im at the point in this game where I just enjoy taking part and am not at all concearned with my score, more than ever now I enjoy being part of a team to grab the Tag regardless of whos name ends up on the scoresheet.

Alright Despite the fact that this stuff just erks me and puts a Downer on the Game, I would like to pose the question following Hawkeyes remarks again yesterday " Does anyone actually have a problem with the format the game has adopted where it is suggested that the coasters are "Hogging" ( sorry Sketchy ) the game on the weekends.
I personally believe that this was well and truelly covered yesterday by a good amount of support for the fact that the game has evolved to suit the players and that everyone is relatively happy with its format, but I think it may be prudent to offer the chance for people to speak up if they feel the need.
I have a lot of respect for the way Hawkeye played the game in the past and no one can forget his awesome efforts in the 25 tag challenge, it is a shame to lose his input to the game over a matter that at this point appears to be only his own view - that is why i am asking the question if there are other players out there that would like to express their view.
Please remember![]()
what a ride so far!!!!
Actually there are TWO points of view that i want to get to grips with, but first I want to say that the game has evolved into what it is and I am not gonna try and change it.We have got to the stage where there is a pressure to get the next tag up quickly,AND the need to get back home in double quick time to post the tag to claim it.
The only way to get more spread out tags is
1) have a whole pile of file tags
2)Get home and post/claim the tag then go out and get a new one and we must wait for that.
Hawkeye seems to want that style of play(no 2 above),and i think devo is saying that to respond to the pressure for a quick turn around has resulted in a close game....exactly as happened around the Hutt on Saturday morning.
Now at the moment we are playing the close game...but anyone at any time has the power to play a LONG game, and we will just have to wait for the new tag...but my plea is this.If we play a LONG game its gotta be easily recogniseable tags otherwise we get the situation where we get only 1 tag and maybe a return on a saturday(half a day huntin and half a day getting and returning)
The close game in Welly or the close game on the coast obviously makes it harder for a non local to claim...my 2c....
Now waht are we doing for tag 300?
Thanks for the input BMWST, I think that the Game plays the way it does and that you have summarised it very effectively, what really upsets me is the unwarranted focus on the Coast players when clearly it is the same accross all regions and has been played as such without the need for snide statements.
As for Tag 300, I think it is time that we accepted that the 300th tag, like the 100th and 200th is not going to fall at a scheduled time and place and that we perhaps agree on a date and place that best suits the masses to perhaps celebrate the fact that we have acheived 300.
just my 2c
I think that what has evolved is fine and the fact that it sometimes plays long and sometimes close in any area is OK too.
My 'vote' is that "It ain't broke .. don't fix it"
There is a thread for the discussion of Tag 300 http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...d.php?t=107720
I have changed camp tiwce on this issue- to be fair to all-
I was as Hawkeye at first- "man that tags barely moved"
BUT I came to realise in time that the 'coast' team are merely making the best of the region they're in (small cant be helped) and the limited play time availed to some of them who:
a; have to commnute WAY further than us nearer town and
b; will always place it in reach of the townies on a Sunday ARvo (often Scout)
So they DO go out of thier way to pass it back if it has been 'coastjacked' so its back in city play weekly
Weve seen SketchY, Scout, Devo and Quasi (whos is a dual teamer anyway) go to extremes to get the tag- Q spent 3 hours following bad advise on Saturday for OLD Porirua Road - no tag has EVER been as well earned as that one so ...
I have gotten over the whole 'distance' thing as I too have been in rush to claim/post and just grabbed an easy TAG while passing
I know how Hawkeye feels, but its just the way the game evolved,
I see it as a bit of fun competition- with spies- submarines- sattelites- misinformation trails- lol its all bloody good fun
300
I say "300" should be put aside for the coming weekend (even if we do 301 onwards before oficially doing 300 imo) and the 300 should be the biggest group tage we can arrange-
Maybe all meet at TAG #1 , Petone Wharf, and have a mass ride to Manfield to take 300 with SketchY as he cant be there otherwise (and none can doubt HIS commitment to the game)
Weather permitting of course
Just ride.
I think the Manfield Ride sounds like fun, Unfortunately like last time this falls on my on call week and I wont be able to attend.
I must confess that I understand Hawkeye's viewpoint. I like the game when it motivates you to ride or makes you discover the region. I like it less when it's all about racing to the next tag and dropping the new one nearby. I have at times stopped looking at the thread for a few days (my God, I was almost ready for rehab'!) because there was no point in even considering the tag as it was consistantly too far away or required intimate local knowledge. Oh, and I hate file pictures unless there is a really good reason for it (it's all about riding, not tagging).
At some point in the game, I asked myself if my tags were interesting and if I wasn't starving the game from other riders. That's when I decided to select my tags more carefully and focus more on riding (coincidentally, I was also very busy with other things for the past month and ran short of time for the tags).
I think it's the nature of the game to evolve and for players to leave or join. I still enjoy keeping an eye on the thread and grabbing the occasional tag, and I'll be happy to finally meet the crew (well, not this week-end as I'm flying to Europe for 3 weeks on Saturday).
Just my 2c.
[edit] Not trying to put people off, but thought I'd be the devil's advocate as, by definition, only those who agree with the game would be reading this
And now, where is this tag again?![]()
Only thing i would like to add is that file picks i feel are a necessary thing because when i used to go out after getting a tag how many times did i get home to![]()
( this included you to Hawkeye if your reading ), so the pressure was allways on. Personally i like them as they are usually a well spotted and thought out Tag. Different players bring different knowledge and personalitys which is awesome to watch so the game is allways changing.
The pressure does come on when a Tag sits as none of us want to be behind the computer seaching so once again the pressure comes on to place a quick Tag.
While Janns tied up doing Uni assignments i'm free so watch your backs
all you Taggers who enjoy the game
Hey guys a while back I was wanking on about the possibility of swapping the 750ss for an ST4
Its no longer a possibility- its happened wooot!
