    21st. Asking too much?

    Latest update.
What the fuck is wrong with some people!?!?
Rang up to book and pay for the grounds today, and now they advise me they dont take group bookings from before xmas till the end of Jan. Why didnt they mention that when I rang up enquiring about having a 21st there to begin with?! FFS!!

So. My options are; choose a later date, and have it at the same camping grounds, but this is up to the decision of the park ranger, as there will be excess alcohol due to it being a 21st.

Or, go around the local farmers in my area and find one that will allow us to use his land for a night. So no beach. But still nice enough roads for those who are riding.

Or, Im putting out a plea to those on here, does anyone have a bit of land we can use, by a beach, within an hours drive of Auckland?

Not happy. Good thing I started planning months in advance. ha.

    2nd edit.
Woo hoo! have a place! Not in coro cos all the camping grounds dont want to host a 21st, and they all have noise restrictions from 10.30pm which sucks, and would not do for a 21st. Last post has more details.

    1st edit.
Ok, the camping grounds at Hot Water Beach said we wouldnt be able to break the noise restriction, which begins at 10.30pm, and so advised me to look elsewhere. The camping ground at Hahei is full for that date. Ive emailed a few of the other camping grounds around the Cooks Beach, Coroglen, Pauanui area as well, but its not looking too good. I was all excited about this awesome 21st that I had in my head and by the looks of it, it wont be happening. Anyone know anyone that lives around that area, that would let us rent out some land for my 21st? A friend of a friend etc? Help would be appreciated. Otherwise I'll have to look somewhere else (Port Waikato, Miranda, or who knows where). Was set on a nice beach party though. Any ideas would be appreciated as well. Cheers

    Original post
My 21st is coming up in Jan (and yes I know its a more than a few months away, but because of the idea I have I will need to plan it now).
Im thinking of having a camping trip/beach party type thing at either Hot Water Beach or Hahei.

Is it asking too much wanting my friends to travel there and pay for their tent site?

Most of my friends live in either Auckland or Hamilton. And the reason for planning it now is obviously because its the holiday period and might miss out if I dont.

Oh and it will be open invite so when I decide on the camping ground I will post the details and anyone is welcome to book a site and help me celebrate. Im choosing Coro because Im looking forward to the ride there.

    Opinions?

It's your birthday, do what you want!

If it is at a busy time though be carefull with bookings. Otherwise that leave it too late wont be able to get in.

Just bear in mind if they have to pay their own costs, you might not get presents.

    Always think about the presents.

Congratulations on your birthday. I hope you have a great time. I'm not really one to answer you question because I didn't actually bother with a 21st. Having said that, I'm not one to let me stop that answering either! :-)

I would suggest that you are probably best placed to answer this question yourself. You know your friends (hopefully) better than any of us. Some thoughts though: Are you expecting just close friends or a wide range of friends? Is it realistic for those that you really want to be there to actually get there (money, time, transport, etcetera.) Try asking your friends and see what they think. (It's not like it's a surprise party for them.) I would personally make the trip if it were a close friend and I would be more than happy to pay a reasonable camping fee - but then again I am gainfully employed. I don't know that I would bother if it were someone in my wider circle of friends. (Hang on - I don't have enough friends to have an inner and outer circle, never mind.)

Don't get drunk and ride your bike off the side of the Coromandel. I hear it's a long way down. You're only just beginning and you've got many happy motorcycling experiences ahead of you yet.

Ideally I'd like it if all my mates could come, the close ones and the ones Im not so close with. But the ones that really matter will come no matter where I have it, and thats all that is important I suppose.

If I were your friend, I wouldn't mind paying for my own however it all depends. Some friends may be "picky". How expensive is the camp site anyway?

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

My mates organized some big parties at Stanmore bay Beach but they got broken up by the poohlease so go to more secluded beaches, bring some amps with good choice of music, light some bonfires, use blankets, booze (depends really), other stuff. Strobe lights (the ones you can put around ya neck). Maybe you could do the coro ride before hand, but remember the oath : Bro's before Hoes. How many will you be expecting?

I think about $20 per person a night. Or something like that.

You could just have some mates round to your house for a pissup, then the next day the ones that want to go camping can, and the others don't have to go.

Bro's before Hoes? Um right. And my list of people I want to come was around 100, but I doubt even half that would actually turn up. I think it would be cool if some KB'ers could make it, would be good to finally meet some of the people Ive talked to.
