    Straight from the horses mouth

"Snow falling on SH 5, more so on our side of the boundary and more concentrated on the Turangakumus.
Keeping in touch with DownerEDi and our counterparts in Taupo. Crews heading up. Nearest grader is stationed at Dillons Hill.
TMU requested at 9:49am to activate VMS signs to indicate SH 5 snow conditions.

So, all up, no more than 1-2 hours.
How many people normally turn up? I've got this sunday off for once, thinking i may tag along and see what its all about.

Give me a chance to sit on grants 999 too.

Might just have to see how the weather goes, long range forecast says sun in the morning and overcast in the arvo, rain every other day of the week. You can just about guarantee that will change.

What sort of prizes do they give out? And do any of the boys from fivestar ride? Be nice to see what they ride.

UPDATE. Snow has stopped and nothing now on highway. Raining, low dense mist/cloud, and poor visibility/driving conditions. VMS winter conditions warning to remain. Contractor to provide update at mid day and then may de-activate VMS signs.

Sure was when I came over he road last night at 8.30 ish. It was the fog that got the better of me. The rain and cold had really set in by the time I got to the summit. The last half of the road was a mission I put down to experience and experience we all need in life. After riding from Hamilton to Auckland in the rain and finding my way around the city in the rain and back to Taupo in the rain I was over it by the summit. But today is another day and I am trying to talk da Mooo in to taking the bike on our return trip over the weekend but she has seen the weather forecast so it might be the cage.

Just come in from work on the farm and it is really very cold and wintery. My boy is home on holiday from school and has the fire on. Think I will do book work for the day. Like Tony and CrazyHores. Yes it is a great picture of you CH. I am sure Todd will be rushing over to take you to lunch today………….
