Did the basic handling skills test and training (didnt really need it, but it was a good refresher after 4 years of not being on a bike) but a must for the complete beginner, was about $150 all up (this is the training and test, i think the test by itself is, i thought someone said $80ish?), and if you pass you get the Certificate! I did it through "Rider Skills" in auckland, and the guy that did it, was awesome! Definately recommend them to anyone! whether you've been riding for a bit and wanna get ur licence, or completely new!!!! Rider skills and their nifty lil gn125's....classic

Next was the learners scratchy, and it was easy as(didnt even do any study for it, im not the brightest light in the shed, but it was pretty damn easy, got 3 test scratchies from the desk at AA, did em in my lunch break, came back and sat it at 4pm (last sitting time) Passed that and picked my bike up that night. (The scratchies are an awesome help and guide)

    Absoloutely stoked.

Addicted to it after the first ride on my CBR, and its gonna be hard to get me away from it! been riding to work for the past week and its insanly fun! Would sell my car anyday and use the bike, if i wasnt hooked on surfing aswell!!

Goodluck to everyone else huntin down their learners!!! get it in ya!!!!
Awesome advice. I'm completely new, but looking to do my BHS soon. So glad to hear it's possible to pass for a complete newbie like me. Thanks for the thread and keeping us up to date on your progress.

Heh Sheba, I am nearly 41, and I been around bikes all my life as a pillion, I am finding riding so much more fun alone, and remembering all the finer points of braking & gear change is not that hard.... recommended reading.. The Motorcycle Manual... from england... excellent skills info!!!

LOL, ye going slow around cones is weird on a 125, that putts... I could do it easier on my own bike now. But the bike I hard was horrible, I have done some quick braking since getting my learners, and found it much easier on my own bike, whereas weaving round the pot holes down my road a nightmare.

Scratch and Win questions and answers are found here.

They are the actual questions used in the test, so read up and you should pass. Have fun out there!
