The last sidecar GP was two 1/2 hour races. Only at the start was there 3 chairs going, shortly to be 2 as one pulled in for repairs & then another & the first one was back out, then the 3rd & about 5-10 min of the race where none of them were on the track

Attrition was the winner on the day.

I imagine average lap time around Mt wgtn was about 4 minutes at that rate.

Wonder what ever happened to Luke & his sidekick, erm. . . whassisname. They were a good crew to go drinking with & seemed pleasantly certifiable.

There's one leaning up against my back fence, although it's pretty agricultural and I do have plans for it, thought I might just tease you a bit

We have 1 thats a boat anchor really and the other is good but we've never gotten around to sorting out a shifter for it & connecting the rear brake, also rides slightly under mnz regs at the front when loaded

The sidecar boys, of any size sidecar, were always good to get on the piss with. You had to leave the track early to beat them to the pub and for at least one Ohakea GP, there may have been others but I don't remember, we parked up on base and passed . . . . . . . . . some other time for that story maybe? Rob Henry set off from Auckland for one Ohakea GP "on" his Honda 125 sidecar complete with passenger holding a torch for when cars came along. They got as far as Te Awamutu or Te Kuiti before the motor gave up. The "one-up" sidecar races were always good for a laugh as were the "two-up" bucket races.

count me in I will get one built for 2010-11 race if others do (time and money being the only drawback)

We used to run against Shaun in Whangarei, we even found and old VHS with all us guys including Shaun, the paddock talk was great, we seemed to spend alot of time tinkering between races.

Lusty and Biceps put a KX500 engine in their bucket sidecar. They spent time between races welding up all the cracks or breaks. Fun to watch that one. Or what about Jill and ??? with the honda single sidecar they were taking to Wanganui. They had it out to 150cc(?) and had a good dose of nitromethane in it. Shame they blew the motor the day or so before Wanganui and had to run their regular bucket engine.
