ACC LEVY? Send them this Video.

I dont know if some of you guys have seen this but i saw it a few years ago in Victoria Australia. I did a search and found it. Maybe we could send it to the idiots running ACC. Victoria saw a need to EDUCATE cage drivers before they hammered motorcyclists and they did have a supprising result. a number of ads were made and this was the most effective one what do you think?

I rode to a friends house in the rain, he asked me if times were that tough, I said you wouldnt understand and if you did understand you would not have asked me that.....a ride is a ride....

very entertaining advert to watch however, I dont think that would work with the general NZ public with our "us versus them" mentality on the roads, where every overtaking manouver is seen as a challenge to ones masculinity.

Both are very good, but the british one gets the message across in a shorter time and probably with more impact (no pun intended). However, I don't think I'd like to see them repeated often; the accidents will put people off motorcycling and I think there's probably a more creative way of getting the idea across.

I like the idea of using the weird fairground man and his 'death' wheel that he spins. You could show a motorcyclist leaving for work, shaking hands with the guy, saying "Well, here goes..." then mixing with traffic. Usual copy over the top or voice over etc.

That perfect day is very well done.

I think that British "Look for Bikes" ad is just the sort of thing we need on our tv screens. Car drivers just don't "see us" cos they are not looking for us. Their brains (and I question the existance of such an organ in some of them) are conditioned to look for a car or something bigger and until that changes they are gonna keep on pulling out on us/doing U-turns in front of us etc...

Ok lets be honest and admit that some of the motorcycle accidents on the ACC register are solely the fault of the rider cos he/or she was probably going way too fast for the conditions BUT the majority involve another vehicle...

I am a very defensive rider, years of survival on our roads has taught me that the driver of a car WILL do the most idiotic thing that can potentially put me at risk... So even though the car drivers of this country need some major education we as bikers can do ourselves a big favour too and thats ride to the conditions and be DEFENSIVE!

It should be compulsary for every person wanting a car licence to ride a bike first. Then they would appreciate bikes a lot more. But this ad would certainly see folk taking notice

Too right, it's a total change of attitude that is needed by car drivers re. motorbikes on the road perhaps ACC should taken that kind of line a long time ago.
