    Ultimate Adv. North Island tour

Thought this could lead to some interesting ideas, and maybe a good weeks holiday one day

What would be the best way to see the North Island avoiding as much Tarseal as possible?

So starting from Wellington, where next?
My suggestions only start at the Akatarawas with a ride through to the Karapoti track and over the Mangakutukutukus to Pram. Sadly cant use the beach anymore (new bylaw) to ride from Waikanae to Otaki to follow the Thompson track to Manakau, so have to use SH1 for a bit? unless...

    Your turn...
Any suggestions to continue my trip welcome, also any ideas between Welly and the Akatarua road?

I s'pose it would but you'd have to use grass runways for it to be Adv!

Besides North range Road or up to the beach I don't think there's really any options there.

    Wellywood to Raetihi

Marks has plotted this route for us on Friday 3oth. Fingers & toes crossed the weather's fine

Leave BP Paraparaumu at 9am - Coffee in Shannon - Gas at Ashurst if needed
Pohangina Rd - Finis Rd - Ridge Rd - Apiti - Main South Rd - Te Para Para Rd
via Karewarewa - Upper Kawhatau and a shit load of gravel to Taihape for lunch
Hang a left north of Taihape to Mataroa and onto Ruanui Rd then up Turakina Valley Rd to Rangiwaea Junction and west on Owhakura Rd to Bells Junction
then via Oruakukuru Rd - Otranui Rd - Pakihi Rd to Clowns Cafe in Raetihi for coffee.

Cool, that what I'm talking about!

A great and twisty route through some of the lower central North Island ending up in Raetihi.

The plan is looking good now; Welly to Pram, Otaki to Manakau, then the aforementioned route to Raetihi.

    Where now...
