Ah and then there was the bike with the blown engine, that wasn't a Yamaha. Luckily the oil dump didn't seem to affect the final minutes of the race.

The 1200cc rule is not only for Ducati, is it? Any manufacturer can run a 1200cc twin if I'm not mistaken?

From what I've read, the 1200cc rule came after Aprillia had started their WSBK bike developement, if it came earlier, maybe they would have chosen a different configuration too.

It's unfortunate that looking at them numbers alone, a 200cc advantage seems like a lot. But imagine a Ducati and a Yamaha flat out on the straights side by side... remove 200cc from the Ducati, and it will probably more look like a Vespa with a superbike fairing compared to the IL4.

I can't wait to see Ducati release a superbike based on the V4... Will it ever happen?

    That would be REALLY cool.

Isn't it a V4 that ducati have in their Moto GP bike?

Maybe they could do a Yamaha, and incorporate its technology into their production bikes for the purpose of Superbikes.

Oh man thats awesome!! Theres a corner at Catalunya thats awesome for watching the slides as well, no doubt theres plently more, but its one they seem to capture really well on the box like this one.

I think you are reading more into it than there is. Ducati can't compete financially if they are forced to run a 1000cc twin, there's no spitting the dummy, it's just cold hard facts coming down from the bean counters. Suzuki on the other hand don't seem to be able to make a good race bike these days, despite making awesome road bikes, I reckon they need Ray Clee on the job.

I'm not a big Toseland fan, especially after the Edward's crew chief debacle. He's no mug but I reckon the stars aligned for him to win his world titles in lull years on two powerhouse teams after the cream of the WSB crop buggered off to MotoGP.

Spies? To do what he's done against Mladin, and in WSB as a rookie, can't be underestimated. To top it off he seems like a nice kid (his mum on the other hand....) so I really hope he does well in MotoGP.

Not true. Mladin easily won the AMA superbike title on the GSXR...I'm sure Spies would've won the world title on it too. Doin ok in the Ausie super bikes and was going great guns in the UK until the main man was taken out.

AS I'm sure you know...all depends on who's stretching the throttle cable. Or as the case may well now be...twisting the grip that USED to be connected to a throttle cable!

Yep, good points mate. Everyone is raving about Spies, and deservedly so, but a lot of credit has to go to Houseworth and co who he dragged with him from the AMA Yoshi Suzuki team. Imagine if Peter Doyle ran the WSB effort.

Bayliss did OK in MotoGP (handled the Duke better than everyone except Capirossi and Stoner) but it wasn't until he took his WSB team with him for that one off appearance and win that things really clicked. All goes to show how much of a team sport it is.

If you cant nail a setup your just going to spin your wheels and go nowhere.
Having people that know how to set up a bike for you must be a huge advantage...
