I have been here for nearly 2 months now and i gotta say the lane changing and crossing over round bends is appaling BUT having said that it,s still a pleasure to drive here compared to the UK you just gotta be a bit more defensive here which is hard cos the roads are so nice

True, I wasn't going all that fast, and like I said, was quite far to the left of my lane. Had I been over to the right of my lane though.....

One of the saddest stories that I have heard this year was when I was at Mt Eden Motorcycles, some learner on a Kawi 250 had a head on while he was stationary at the lights living behind a kid and wife. Far out, head on while stationary? That must suck, probably something out of Final destination .

Probably more common than you think. I was taken out a similar way earlier this year, however lucky enough to be surrounded by metal and airbags. Then a close call the other day in exactly the same place. Starting to think I should find another route home.

Yes, but before car drivers cop all the flak there are a number of bikes which do the same thing and startle the heck out of car occupants. Not to mention scaring the shit out of other bikers.

Lots of NZers have a shoddy attitude when they're out on the road regardless of their mode of transport.

Maybe ALL classes of license should be more stringent with the inclusion of having to watch footage of smashes as a mandatory part of the learning curve. Everyone always thinks "it won't happen to me" until it does.

Where the hell did anyone mention they like treating the road as a race track, are you so singularly focused you fail to read the posts in the thread?

Honestly you seem to believe that preaching like a broken record on KB you will alter the attitudes of those who do treat the road as a track in anyway, do you realise that those who ride bikes in this manner are of the same mind set as those who treat the road as a track in a car? There is a high likelihood they own a car and a bike, and drive/ride in a reckless manner regardless, they hangout with like minded idiots and can be seen drag racing down main streets etc on Friday nights.

They don't give a fuck about you, me, or anyone else, wake up a sniff the coffee, you want to actually do something, stand for parliament, work with BRONZ instead of spouting off criticisms, or just do something productive in reality, perhaps you could run some free training sessions seeing as you are so fucking good.

Sorry Tom to hijack like that but this guy has pissed me of once to often with his self righteous attitude, I kinda wish I was taking that trip with you guys just so I could find the prick and deck him.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

Perhaps you need to go back and re-sit Comprehension 101.

I haven't said that anyone has condoned treating the road as a racetrack in this thread.

Are you so singularly focused that you have to read words into what I've written that aren't even there?

Becuase many motorcyclists dont geddit. They watch the video and go, that would never happen to me, I would never do something that stupid and then go out and get all hyped up and do what they said they wouldnt. Some call it passion, some call it stupdity.

Half the reason the responsible people on here sound like broken records is that many a motorcycle doesnt comprehen/fails to comprehend/doesnt fucking want to comprehend the stupidity of their actions and only a broken record telling them over and over again will maybe....MAYBE over time, start to intorduce the thought of repsonisbility into a riders head.

I fail to see how a complete stranger from behind a computer screen will be able to change a human being's personality and attitudes, something that psychiatrists, counselors and prisons attempt... And how many prisoners re-offend?

It's not the 'riders' who are the problem, it's the person.

    Give motorcyclists a break

Go and tell rapists that they're giving 40yr old white men a bad name or something.

Actually responsible folks I have seen here seem to realise its the internet, fuck all done or said here will change actions of others and are actually getting out there and doing something about the issue, offering training, engaging with other motorcyclist, and helping out in local events and rides by being supportive of newer riders.

Its his sanctimonious, self righteous bull shit in unrelated threads that pisses me off, especially when he has no one has anywhere made mention a particularly stupid act is cool or in any way glorious. I also love the comments he makes about crashes, other peoples off etc with out knowing the details, roads, conditions etc.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

I made a point of saying that I wasn't trying to blame car drivers for everything, and that I'm not claiming to be a perfect rider. So I'm not sure what the point of your post was. Unless you were simply re enforcing my point.

No worries, I think we all know Katman is a total douche.
