It was a pretty good turn out. I have to say that I'm underwhelmed at Ulysses' approach but they do have the ability to get large numbers together.

At least les recognised that the crowd needed a bit of revving up but, (chuckling now) the only response to "WHEN ARE WE LEAVING??!!" can really be "RIGHT NOW!!". Its a bit tough to shout out " 9AM TUESDAY 16TH NOVEMBER FROM THE AUTOBAHN AT BP PAPAKURA ON THE SOUTHERN MOTORWAY"

TV1 coverage here was good but on TV3 it was tucked away further down the news hour and pretty insipid in comparison. They don't appear to even have it on their website. Was it something we said

I thought TV 1's coverage was pretty crap actually. Very much spouting the party (sic) line:
"ACC is losing $2.4 billion per year". "Only $12 million collected from motorcyclists for costs of over $60 million" The usual tired shit about Harleys and leather and then nicely topped off with dire predictions about the impact of the Bikeoi on the 17th for congestion in Wellington. TVNZ is NOT the friend for those protesting govt. actions.

Primes coverage was pretty good I felt- haven't seen TV3 yet

Introduced myself and had a chat to Les for a couple of minutes prior to his speech, and even got my mug on the telly for all of 3 seconds or so. Yay. Fame at last.

It was a good turnout and the constabules and constabulettes did a fine job getting us all in and out again. Well done Enzed Plod.

I stopped counting bikes at 640 plus and when you add in the pillions, the turnout would have been 800-ish I guess.

So to the Ulysses folk and everybody who made the effort to get to Manukau today, you're frickin' legends all. Even the prat who thought a biker ACC rally needs a commentary about the antismacking bill. But at least you got off your butt and showed your support for the protest by being there.

Interestingly, a mate that I was riding back to Ork in convoy with nearly made the casualty stats, as a woman with several ankle-biters in a very tired Nissan Pulsar decided to enter the space aready occupied by said mate. And did the manoeuvre prior to signalling and obviously without looking. Luckily my mate's endowed with some sixth sense and very quick reaction times - I think if I'd been where he was at that particular point in time, I'd be writing this from a hospital bed or one of Beelzebub's internet cafe's.

Roll on the Big Trek to Wellywood.

Please don't respond "that the point" I already know that( this is a rant after listening to the Tv3 report ).

BUT what in the world have I got wrong with this simple piece of maths ?

If MOT say there are some 100,000+ registered motorbikes over 50cc and all bikes over 50cc pay the same $270 ACC levy component in their registration, how the hell does. 100,000 x 270 =$12M. My calculator says it = $27M.

Or is it in the wording? "ACC only collected $12M in levy's from bike registrations."

What the hell happened to the other $15M we paid ?

Some ones lying or robbing us.
Please Mr ACC, my 1300cc bike was passed by a 400cc bike on a track day, can I have my fees reduced ?

This four part panorama should give a fair overview of the size of the gathering in Auckland. At one point I heard a number of "Well over a thousand" bikes from what seemed to be a gate count.

The parking area behind the yellow van in the second photo more than filled up after these were taken.

Was a great turnout at Manakua today. Not sure how the media came up with "up to 500 bikes" , I would have made it at well over that. Almost seems like they are trying to downplay things?

Educational standards have dropped so much in the last 20 years that simple maths is beyond them.

TV 1 are TV2 are only after stories to gain viewers to buy products advertised on TV.
Bikers wanting fairness from the government is not interesting.....unless someone does something newsworthy ( read: stupid).
