Well it seems like only yesterday I got my baby delivered all new and shinny.Now its time for her first scheduled service (1000k)and with this comes a question.
Do I have to have her serviced with the dealership I bought her from in order maintain the warranty?Or to put it another way, will the warranty still be valid if I get her serviced through a local mechanic, and if I do use a local mechanic; are there any accredited agencies he should be registered with?

Check with Suzuki - they may accept an MTA accredited garage.
Failing that, any Suzuki dealer can do it.

It will say 'any authorised dealer' may even specify Suzuki dealer.
Do Suzuki offer any extra on the first service? - Honda for example do not charge labour on the first service.

Good questions. I think I better look through the warranty docs and take a look on the Suki web site.

It has to be serviced by an authorised Suzuki dealer. Franchised dealers have so much investment in infrastructure and training specific to the bikes they sell. Getting a non authorised mechanic to service it will invalidate your warranty. Consider also that non authorised people are not privy to ongoing / latest updates and important precautions etc.

No, any person can do it, but you should fully document each and every step that the mechanic did, and make very very certain that it is exactly and precisely what the service manual says you should do for this, and every other service interval. Oils used must match or exceed specs recommended by the manufacturer etc.
Seriously though, by the time you jump through all the hoops it will be quicker and cheaper for a Suzi dealer to do it.

You will need to get the first service done at an authorised Suzuki workshop, most likely will be a dealer. It does not have to go back to the dealer you bought it from to get its first service no matter what they tell you. Part of the margin they made selling it to you covered the labour content of that first service. All that will hapen is the shop you take it to will bill the cost of their labour back to the selling dealer

Its not that I don't want it done by the dealer- I have no problem with them or the service I received whilst buying the bike through them. Its just that it is a fairly long ride (yes ride not drive!!!!
The alternative is to get them to collect which will add on about 140 bucks for the round trip. This is why I'm looking for alternatives!

At least you bought yourself a brand new bike with a warranty that's worth something and likely to get honoured by the franchise network in a timely manner.

Did that when my bike was bought with remainder of 2 yr warranty,they said had to be suzuki dealer.I wanted the dealer I bought from,but no according to Suzuki,obviously they want the services for dealer franchise to get back dollars on sale after Suzuki summer fest price,or if discounted prices.
