eek Why you should ALWAYS wear gloves on a motorcycle

Its a natural human instinct to put your hands out to break your fall.........however the road surface is like a cheese grater. Would hate to see skin grafts sticking to your tendons eh?

This brilliantly timed shot was taken by Barry Harcourt and was published on the cover of The Press (Christchurch) this morning (4th Nov). Tour of Southland cyclist lost his cycle and the Goldwing rider had nowhere to go but OVER. Unfortunately the cameraman on the back wasn't wearing any gloves

Over xmas was riding a mountain bike - no gloves an helmet - dumb arse I know.

The front tucked on a gravel surface and I grabbed my head and rolled my shoulder to the ground. My shoulder was bloody sore and bent a thumb back but managed to fight the reaching out instinct - knowing I would have been screwed (and nearly was).

    ATGATT lesson learned.

Wrong! You should always wear gloves on your HANDS. It's bugger all use wearing them on your motorcycle...

PS: Sure the shot wasn't just some wicked lean action for a 'wing with a bit of attempted swinger action from the pillion?

Surely you have better things to do, rather than nitpick! (I already have a husband to do that)

Awesome photo though!! Dat's one of dem "once in a lifetime" shots.

Gotta feel for the poor guy, despite the fact that camera operators must know there's a degree of risk in doing something like that.

    Not pleasant!
Unless medical technology has changed since my nursing days, hands can't be skin grafted...it is a long painful process to recovery.
