A smack for a 2yr old for wrong doing is fine,it's the idiots who can't tell the difference from smack and bash deserve to be prosecuted.Taking kids toys and treats is fine,an example was my kids playing and leaving toys on lawn, instead of putting in sandpit, consequences were plastic toys get eaten by lawn mower, took it to happen once and 4yr olds understand when dad started mower.Memo to self though pick up the bloody metal toys, even small ones make damage to legs.

Also kids understand NO means NO at early age,so by time they're 7 or so understand and never need smacking for being naughty.

i hardly think smacking your 2 year olds hand when you caught them in the cookie jar in your own house is going to have the police knocking on your door. just don't do it at the supermarket ffs.

the biggest thing (and mine are 14 and 18) are simply saying no. And sticking with it

I saw all my actions as a parent as one education. The concept of a punishment I have never agreed with.

Clearly there are conseqences as the result of misbehavour, but the question I asked my self was the misbehavour one of intent or did the child not know their actions were wrong.

It's a fine line sometimes but you do need to take the time and find out.

When i was a kid, I got the great wooden spoon and the nice wooden ruler.. ruler snapped in half twice so parents bought a new one..

But it was usually a solid Mechanics hand wrapped around our backsides..

As for me punishing (my future) children, they will still get a smack on the ass or hand. And if some nosy old bitch comes and tells me i cant do that, I'll ask her if she wants to look after this lot OR to keep her nose outta my business

For misdemeanours; you know the sort of thing walking to slow, backchat and "thinking that about me". I beat the soles of their feet with a milk bottle.
For the more serious crimes; like being seen and heard, having an opinion and thinking “that about me”. I get them to hold a phone book to their chest and hit it with a softball bat....

I guess you're not allowed to smack them these days, so Naughty corner it is
Some people think they can & some think they can't......they're both right.
