Great night for a ride

WHEN I AM AN OLD WOMAN I SHALL RIDE PURPLE................AGAIN

Was nice to catch up, I will try make a few more.
Anyone else find that nasty pot hole in the repair patch going down Gebbies? I think it hook a tooth loose in me so will be having a serious look at the bike in the morning.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.
What a lovely ride. Apart from initally turning right into Gasson street for no apparent reason.
But thanks to JMemoniclooking after the directionally challenged of myself, we soon caught up to the back of the pack by wheatcheaf.
Good to see/catchup with everyone again. Mrs Chung (May) enjoyed meeting everyone and enjoyed the ride, esp the ride back through Dyers looking down on a well lit Chch and being passed by gloplg at the same time. Hopefully she wont be too adverse to joining other wed nights rides.
The bike really needed that run. Ran smoother than silk by the time i rolled into our street and felt like it has an extra pep on the ride to work this morning. Thanks all.![]()

Yeah, nice ride - made it to the top of the Port Levy saddle & thought "Enough"... reminded me of the Paraparas (back roads up Wanganui way) when I first got my licence - nice twisties, but I'm probably more of the "pipe & lounge chair" brigade going through them than some of you guys!! (But did scare away some of the loose baa-baas for your other guys tho - that bought back the old maxim of "slow in, fast out"!). The gravel wasn't too bad, just some of the potholes were a bit eye-watering, and the Ohlins definitely needed some tightening up on some of the mid-speed ribbies...
Did amaze me the number of properties for sale out that way, too... ? Maybe they've had a hard winter out there!

Well it was an entertaining evening...
Again we had a huge turnout with over 40 bikes. We'll hit the magic 50 one of these weeks.
I didn't enjoy the Port Levy road at all. I now remember why I've only been over there once before and haven't been back. If I was on a different bike it might be a different story but the "rigid ninja" don't do bumpy roads. It was like one of those mechanical bull rides.
I heard murmurings of a twist on an old favourite for next week. I'm sure my lovely assistant Dave will elaborate
Stanley I didn't meet your wife. She'll have to come along again

Sadly there is a lot to be said for a trail bike with road tyres with the condition of NZ roads currently... was a lot of wondering last night if the old XL250RC (many years back now, and which had road tyres) would have done any better than the BMW - there again, both the bike & I could lose some many kilos to be in the same weight league!!![]()
When I bought the bike 3 years ago I should have bought springs to suit my weight and had the bike set up professionally. Now I'm looking at selling it it's pointless. "Normal sized" people have much less trouble on it. It's just physically too big a bike for my skinny arse
