My bike is insured with Kiwibike (I think it's a Swann policy) and the last (only) time I considered a track day (Pukekohe) the answer was: "You are covered only if you attend the Advanced Rider Training (theory) session the night before, and there's an excess of $1000 if you bin it".
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Cost me a one off $50 premium for a have a go day-maintaining my excess at $1000. Considering even a minor lowside would potentially write my bike off [cosmetically]-it was worth it I feel. Brokers-KB.

Done about 5 TDs, email Dave @ Kiwibike a few days before, pay 50 bucks and get an excess of $1000, or as said elsewhere 15% of insured value and no pay 50 bucks.
    Great peace of mind.

i have done tons of trackdays, all i do is let my insurance know before hand, my excess doubles so becomes $1000 instead of normal $500. as long as its not timed they don't care.

My insurance is done via a broker.

That's with Star via Kiwibike. Dave's great. Nice and easy to deal with.

I don't bother paying the extra because I figure I'm only insuring myself for a total loss.

They're trying to prevent people claiming for minor scrapes and shit. Fair enough. Get crash knobs to minimise lowside damage if you want.

But yeah don't push it and you won't crash. Just like the road. Now I want to get faster and go harder so I plan to get a dedicated track bike

    Your calculator is broken!
The greatest pleasure of my recent life has been speed on the road. . . . I lose detail at even moderate speed but gain comprehension. . . . I could write for hours on the lustfulness of moving swiftly.

We are insured with AMI, I asked about Rider training days emphasising they were held at a race track BUT NOT A RACE EVENT she asked themanager and said so long as it is not racing and not timed no problem.
No mention of increased excess or anything.

Of course that could all change should we unfortunate enought to want to make a clam.

Haven't specifically asked about tomorrows day at Hampton Downs, just assumed the same answer as last time I talked to them.

Interesting.... I left AMI specifically because they refused to cover me at all. Insurance comes up soon too...

If I were you I'd get it in writing.
