    Couple of quick questions

    Hey,

Bought a Ninja 250 yesterday, arrives Tuesday, can't wait!

A bit apprehensive about road riding, but I think it's the best way to be, want to take it slow and learn the ropes.

A couple quick questions: who do you guys use for insurance? and what sort of security do you use to lock the bike up?

Also if any one wants to teach a noob a few things or go for a ride sometime would be good to catch up, I live around Cornwall Park area.

    Cheers

Come along to NASS (North Auckland Street Skills). You'll find it invaluable.

I suggest you start by finding a quiet street, and ride up and down it a bit. Practice basic skills like braking, changing up and down, etc.

Check out insurers on the Wiki:

Thanks for the link, state doesnt seem too bad but I will ring a couple others tomorrow.

I have been reading about NASS, and will make it there for sure, pretty cool of people to offer so much advice etc. Is there a street skills style event on the southern side of the bridge?

Read abit about the mentor thing aswell, but either I can't seem to find the appropriate link or it died off?

I went with the auto club thru my broker. $6k insured $41 per month.... seemed ok to me, as my car is twice that.

If you use 'search' on these forums there is plenty about various insurance options, just make sure you do get the bike insured ASAP! Seem to have been a lot of thefts happening lately...

I haven't run into Autoclub for bikes before. Would you like to add something to the Wiki about them?

The difference tween insurance companies is the payout... so stay safe... and hope for no incidences... !!!

Nothing personal, it will just be business. They have a profile of customers they want, and you probably just don't fit that profile.

May I suggest, Kiwibike, they are an insurance broker and I have had a very good experience with them so far.
