    Who's subsidising who?

I met a guy today who has been on ACC (80% of his $120K salary) for six months.

Turns out he snapped an Archilles Tendon while cycle racing. That took six weeks and Christ knows how much in medical costs to get him close to mobile.

He was on crutches for this issue when he slipped and fell, wrecking his knee, upon which he has now had four operations.

Therefore, from the one cycling 'Accident' he's taken about $48K in ACC salary, and I would estimate he's cost the health system the thick end of $40k.

$88k and not one cent has he paid in extra ACC levies.

    So who is subsidizing who?

It may not be news, but given it's the first time I've come face to face with such a distortion I was utterly pissed off, threw my toys, and just needed to tell you all.

There is no sweeter taste than justified outrage. And I was justifiably outraged at this. So fuck off and leave me to my sweet taste.

Except, if the cycle accident occurred on the road it is charged to the vehicle account.

    correct... which technically it shouldn't...

again ACC was not designed to have the seperated accounts and needs to go back to the super account
