    15 month rego

Just re-registered the bike and took it out for as long as possible which is now only 15 months. Figured I might as well max it out before Ali- Key and the 121 thieves smack us with the ACC hit. Might look at trying to do it again just before they spring it if it is possible.
If you want to extend you have to go into a testing station or post shop and fill out a form with the date you want to take it out to. Cost just over $400 which still hurts...christ knows what it is going to feel like when it is closer to a grand!
    I follow the 50/50/90 rule.
Anytime I have a 50/50 chance of getting it right there is a 90% probability I will get it wrong

Got an email reminding me to do that. My bike rego is due in Feb. Is the new levy meant to be starting in june? If so I will reregister till mid May and then do a 15 month before the new levies come in. F*@k them

I'm preparing for that too........beware they may not let you extend it right out like that within a week or so of the date.
Before you internet lawyers start this happened with the last rise to some people. I personally got away with it.

Don't they normally put the levies up from X date? I.E. if your bike is registered at that date you have paid the higher levies?

That's what they normally do, innit?

A while ago I let my rego lapse for quite a few months, wanted to ride to a rally so paid up past & present, rego, the ltsa lady said I was being ripped as the rate had gone up, and I was paying 'all' at the increased rate.

The danger is that if the LTSA can backdate the increased charges from when (if) they come into effect, and ya have to cough up for the past at the 15 month relicence period, peoples may have made differing decisions about whether to rego or put on hold for some periods.
