To be honest, having been one, I'd say that if anyone actually wants to be a mod, they are patently unqualified for the job.

I don't have a thick enough hide for the job.

To (finally) answer the question, the only way is to be nominated by a current mod when we think more are needed. The person nominated then has to have the agreement of all of the other Mods before a final tick from those with the red names. After that, an invite is sent and that's the first the person knows about the whole process.

So basically, it doesn't matter how many people say Carver should be a mod, it's not going to happen unless the Mods agree!!
