Won't let me post on the wall .. maybe they have packed a sad
Everyone has the right to their own opinion .. and you have yours. Unfortuantely, you appear to be somewhat misguided, have you decided this on your own - and not bothered to read anything that is out there about the mission bay protest.
I, personally, have very right to go to a cafe and purchase breakfast - it doesn't matter what type of vehicle I choose to take - but IF I choose to take my motorcycle I can generally take up much less room, utilise less resources (carbon footprint) etc. The costs of the proposed ACC levy response will force a number of riders back into cars - this is one of the points of this demonstration.
How will the proposed levies affect other people who utilise the facilities around our fine cities and country towns if this should happen. How will businesses be affected that rely on motorcycle trade in order to survive - there are many of these throughout the coutry.
From your OP you wish to diminish the rights of road users in general - have you considered the impact of the proposed changes to ACC on yourself? They include almost doubling the car registration costs, upping employer and employee levies, and taking more off all users at the petrol pump.
The motorcyclists campaign is also being used to educate a rather uneducated public on these issues, or are you just willing to let this slip in and pay through the nose when ACC has yet to provide any figures worth a grain of salt in evidence of these changes. ACC has choosen to have the public focus on the motorcycle issue, in order to hide the other rises in the report. Out of the 2500 responses to the proposal I hope that yours was one - as you are targetted as well as the rest of us.
Motorcyclists are right ... this campaign in general has the theme WHO'S NEXT. Believe me IT IS YOU and those LIKE YOU who choose to ignore what is happening and complain when others have decided that it is not good enough.
Life is a gift that we have all been given. Live life to the full and ensure that you have absolutely no
regrets.

I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!
What makes anyone think this is anything else than an act of the state against us?
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
The thing ive always wondered about this is... if all vehicles pay "road user charges" either independently, or through taxes on petrol, in order to use our roads, then how come cyclists get a free ride? I get that they do less damage to the roads, so they should pay less then shouldnt they? Not nothing...
pfft - john smith is a fake profile. Click on report and it will be closed down.
I have - the more that do - the faster it will be closed down.
As for public backlash - 6500 people in wellington was a backlash - one dipshit on face book isnt quite in the same league.
Cyclists have their ACC deducted from their wages as it is considered a recreational past time.
But I don't think we should be pointing the finger, saying what about them, what about me.
We should be pushing forward on the Woodhouse principles. It's about everyone contributing for the good of the community. That I believe is what Woodhouse was trying to have implemented.
And if the cost is too great for all of us to bear, then we need to help those who need it the most, and work down form there. And yes, that means lots of people with minor issues may miss out. And it means entitlements for some things will have to be dropped.
Correct, but so do motorcyclists for recreational accidents. Where an accident is determined to be recreational (cyclist or motorcyclist - i.e. off-road) the costs are placed against the Earner's Account.
When an accident involving a cyclist or motorcyclist occurs on-road, the costs are placed against the Motor Vehicle account. Only owners of registered vehicles and petrol-users pay directly into the motor vehicle account.
ACC claims that these categories are kept separate, however there is evidence from hospital surveys that off-road motorcycle accidents are being charged against the Motor Vehicle account due to errors made by hospital staff in form filling.
