cool dude,
I remember there was a summer scramble track up the south head on a venison farm - apparently they could only use it a few days a year due to noise. Why the fuck couldn't the one bloody neighbour just suck it up and either join in or go to the beach instead?
It's just as ridiculous as people moving in next door to ardmore (or western springs) and then complaining about the noise
Yeah it's fucking mean! zero transport time, no loading the bikes for travel, all the tools and parts right there in the shed and cold beers in the fridge for when you're done!
But believe it or not, living in swanson/henderson valley we still have ONE neighbour who decided to complain:
4 of our neighbouring families all ride, and at times there'll be over 7 bikes on any one property which does require road rules to prevent collisions.
We do try to be considerate by not riding on public holidays like christmas and tend to keep within reasonable hours (10am to 5pm) with a break around lunch time. If someone rings and says they're doing something that warrants silence we'll respect that too, but when we stop you can still hear the next valley over full of chainsaws and more bikes.
Then one day we get an anonymous call from some old man with an accent and gets Mum in a bit of a fuss: When I get there he refuses to say who he is or where he's from so we cant work anything out, but insists he'll call noise control unless we stop riding. I said if he won't be reasonable and explain himself or come to a compromise he can fuck off - we've checked the laws and there's nothing they can do within those ours. We're happy to "self regulate" but we do expect a bit of honesty and a reasonable reason/expectation.
He makes the same call a few more times to the same result. We'd already figured out who he was by the accent; he's the same guy who tried to legally stop a neighbour removing a tree because it would affect his view.
Finally, I even went round to his driveway on the (road) bike to see what noise there was. Considering a hill blocked the noise it was pretty much fuck all: just a distant Barp when someone jammed on the gas on one of the boundaries. He stopped calling after that.
Some people are only happy when they're stopping others being happy. Even people trying to make them happy makes them grumpy. Good for you for being reasonable but sticking to your guns. Neighbours like that are like acid - corrosive. They stop you enjoying doing anything around your own place and you keep thinking about what twats they are, even though they're not worth it. Hope he's moved on now.

Noise is a funny thing, what some people think is completely reasonable is a real pain the ass to others. For example, I had a neighbour that would start his fucking loud car at 6am every day and idle it for 10-20mins right outside my bedroom window. And daily he would have his stereo so loud I would have to turn my TV up just to hear it and have to shut all the windows. It all came to a head when he had a party and I snapped and called noise control. And he then said, just come talk to me. WTF like I'm just going to tell you everything you do it too loud. LOL
Thank god he moved away! Things got quite nasty and I was about to move house to get away from it. And he was renting!!
Anyway my point is that most Kiwi's don't like confrontation, so people will ring noise control instead of a friendly chat. And the other thing is many people are pretty antisocial. How many of your neighbours do you talk to and know?
But things like western springs is a load of shit. Locals move and try to muscle them out. FFS what a load of shit.
Hey ya all!!
Thank you all for your feedback, this is awesome!
Now I am going to try an answer all your questions/queries so bear with me here...
Sorry about the price, but $40 is per bike, not rider. And this is for the day.
Now this up coming Open Day runs from 10am - 4pm. Gates open from 8am and close at 5pm.
We will be open 7days a week otherwise. But bookings will be essential.
This will be our first Open Day so we will be reviewing everything again afterwards as I expect to get a lot of feedback, not only about the price but also regarding the different tracks/facilities/ how its run etc etc.
As far as the MotoX side of it, there are different natural jumps all over the section, but we have not actually built a specific MotoX track yet...
watch this space though.
All ideas/suggestions/feedback etc for this is most welcome.
Vazza - Please tell me what do you class as a "Trail ride"? as we want to get this right.
We are currently setting up a hay shed and surrounding paddocks for camping out for those who wish to come for more than one day and stay over. (This facility will be available after news years).
At the moment we have a long drop permanently on site and will have porta-loos for the larger events.
We are also currently setting out a peewee track as well. Suggestions are welcome!
Our tracks are maintained on a very regular basis.
I am hoping to have some photos to put up in the next week.
I hope this info helps some of you. And like I say, please feel free to tell us what you are wanting from a place like this as far as tracks etc go, as we are wanting to make this place well worth that $40 of yours no matter the kind of riding you do.
Thank you for your help and support!!

sounds like a drive could be worth it to check it out..
I reckon, especially being able to stop the night and get two full days riding in. looking forward to checking it out when I get back to NZ...
For REAL news (instead of that shit they spoonfeed you every day on TV) go to - http://www.openureyes.org.nz/blog/
Peewee track stuff:
Close to the car park (Little people have very short attention spans. And small bladders.)
Nothing too steep, but some inclines are good. Small bikes not good at hills! Imagine 10-year-old LT50 power.
If it can be laid out so parents can see the whole track from near the entrance, or from one point that's brilliant. The buggers always crash around the back of something...
Lots of track between any of the more challenging bits, let them recover.
Lengths of 200m to 1km are fine, subject to the above.
Cheap rates for 50cc! If someone appears with 2 of these in a trailer, chances are they're not going to get in much riding themselves - maybe one lap of a 5km loop, but not much more than that. It's Babysitting on 2/4 Wheels more than Taking The Family For A Ride.
Sandpit have a 50cc-only track whch works well, though this has a short & long loop which occasionally results in unwanted interface of 2 littlies where the short rejoins the long.
Best of luck with the venture, I hope to get that way to sample it one day!

Good feedback re the peewee track. almost need one for the real littlies & then another bit bigger with few more 'challenges'. Like sandpit having the pee-wee track & the learners track.
Cost for a family is one thing i'd look into. $40 per bike when you have 2 adults & 2 little ones is very costly. As said above, the adults don't get that much ride time in with little ones.
maybe do a family pass (2 adults & 2 kids (under ages 10???)
Looks an awesome place though. goodluck with your venture
Cool, natural terrrain stuff is sweet but often needs fine tuning to get lips right and smoothing out landings, be cool if you setup an area for free riding!
As far as the mx track goes...
Half and half, MX section and a SX section would me wicked!
Big berms!
Variety of tables, doubles, step ups and maybe even a tripple would be good. You might as well throw the works at it if you have the land area and resources to do it, rythm section, whoops, saw dust section...
Make it safe with good sized landings if ya can.
Cant wait to check the place out! Keep up the good work.
