there are crimes and there are "crimes". Doing a few ks over the arbitary speed limit is not in the same league as robbery, assault or worse, yet it seems to get an undue degree of priority. (Well aware there are real serious road events, but I'm referring to minor speeding infringements)
Could it be because road policing is money in the bank, but real crime investigation costs, and the fines come nowhere near meeting the costs.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

    Of course.

Motorists are 'easy meat', real crims take a bit more than a radar or laser to nab. It is common knowledge that the open road speed limit is set too low so as to make a cash cow of people who 'cruise' at a comfortable speed for their modern machine, mostly in the 110-120 bracket.

Ka-fuckin-ching! Arkwright couldn't have done it better. (Ca-ca-ca-caaaake?)

What irks me the most is; those who enforce laws that they know are stupid. I am all for nabbing robbers/rapists/bashers and loonies doing 200kph in supermarket carparks but seriously; 100kph on the open road is a joke. A lobby for upping it needs to get rolling (sic) with compulsory Defensive Driving/ Improved Skills courses for all new drivers or drivers convicted of fuckwittery.

Gawd, too simple, sorry. As you were.

They were actually talking about reducing it though?

100kph limit down country is not too bad, as theres usually some corners and or scenery..

Motorways however should be lifted. Going from say, orewa to huntly (full stretch of motorway) is so mundane at 100kph, that pure boredom is enough to cause accidents...

    Why would I know?

I know traffic "crime" doesn't exist. Most burglars are disqualified... around these parts anyhow.....

If this forum was around when Traffic Officers were Traffic Cops and Police were just Cops I wonder how this 'conversation' would go...
