And as a bonus the 600 is easier on petrol and rear tyres. I love it as a road bike in its own right.
105 at the rear wheel? on a 750? is it because ur a fat arse? It should be putting out 120 + at the wheel stock standard. My 600 was putting out 120 with only slight mods.

Edit: never mind thought u had a 750.

And that's "challenge" like riding and old vintage bike on a long trip is a "challenge".

Track junkies can't grasp any kind of riding enjoyment outside of full throttle redline action.

Yeah and we know how that ended.

Maybe he should have kept it a bit more on the track, and a bit less on the public roads.

A good example that some in this thread could bear in mind.

Bruce was Bruce - if you knew him you'd understand. If you didn't know him, let it go.

His judgement is NOT what I am referring to. Let him rest in peace. I am talking about his riding skill, which was considerable!

I think the 1000 cc vs 600 cc argument comes from the times of 1991 Yamaha FZR1000 vs a 1991 Yamaha FZR600.

Times have changed now and the difference between a GSXR1000 K9 and a GSXR600 K9, in terms of agility and manuvrability is not much. Sure the pistons are larger or smaller and that means turning the bike over from one side to another requires greater or lesser time/force due to inertia of the masses of the moving parts but this calcualtion can be left only for the track.

IMHO, on a nicely varried section of road with tight corners and some straight bits, the 1000cc will take it out with a skilled enough rider to do the comparison between the two bikes. If the rider is not skilled enough to push a 1000 then 600 could be faster.

    YES to the 600 v the 1000

But be even smarter, and go and buy the 750

Same handling as the 6, but more tourque

Ask Pussy, they are the very best road bike on the market in NZ Hands down

I was talking to a man in a shop who said he rode an R1 to the westcoast and got home faster on an R6.

There is a limit to how fast you can ride on the road before you wind up dead though, and either bike is more than capable of exceeding the sensible limit.

Could it be that he was less intimidated by the R6 than the R1? I've only ridden one full spec superbike, but was much slower on that than on any road going 1000 that I've ridden.

Just because the bike is faster, doesn't mean the rider is. Ask any poseur on a brand new 1198s with matching leathers.
