    Briggs & Stratton

I've got a Briggs & Stratton engine which I believe was made in the 1960s or 70s. The thread on the head for the spark plug has been stripped and I can't find any parts for it so who would I take it to to get re-threaded?

The product you need is a "helicoil". It requires drilling the existing hole bigger, tapping a thread into it, then the "helicoil" screws into that to sleeve the hole back to the original size.

Very simple to do, and pretty cost effective.

Once done, stop being so ham fisted when you do the plug up, they barely need torqued at all once the compression washer seats. (said tongue in cheek of course)

The engine in question has been stripped apart hundreds, if not thousands of times before as it was used at a polytech or other such institution to teach young mechanics, that's why it's fucked.

Shit load of parts at the local mower shop or trademe. 2nd hand head's probably a tenner or less(easy swap if its not prolly overhead valve), or whole engine cheep cheep for more future parts if your keeping this little banger
