Ive just had the phone call from Pricey- he has been up all night of course. he and Kerry were at Middlemore with Daniel while he had his operation on his leg. Steve tells me that he is in good spirits. he flicked me an email late last night to forward on to you guys....
Sorry I am a bit late getting back to you but just got home from the hospital. Daniel is doing fine, he had an operation this afternoon, he broke the ball on the top of his thigh bone, apparently this is a rare occurrence but was due to the impact force, he had a badly dislocated hip and when he was x-rayed they found the damage. He has also fracture his lower leg so not a good day. The surgeon has pinned the top of his thigh bone and says we will now have to wait several months to determine the extent of the damage, ie if it will heal or deteriorate. We are hoping that he has not sustained any nerve damage and will have to wait a few days to find out.
Bit of a bugger, he was going really well up until this point, 2nd in class and 4th clubman overall.
Not too sure who was really a fault, the other rider said that Daniel was over on his side of the road, Daniel says he wasn’t. It was on a blind corner on a two way section, riders were supposed to be sticking to the left, unfortunately this did not happen and the rest is history.
Not too sure how long Daniel will be in hospital, not too long I think, he is in Middlemore Hospital South Auckland.
On a selfish note- buggered my 3 day also as I was leading vet experts after day one and had 3 good tests on day 2 up until the incident, loving the track and conditions. Oh well, always next time.
Anyway, I had better get some sleep and will give you a call tomorrow.
Cheers
Steve
