She might have got close , but didnt get the top 3 FXRs. Was great racing, you gotta prepare the bikes to go the distance.

Yes...second fastest time though and at least it wasn't the engine that failed, but an engine mount that broke, I am sure Team ESE will sort that, and I hear they are already making plans for a new engine.

The winners best lap 56.893 Avalons 57.193 and the second place finishers best lap was 57.907 so Avalon and the GP were right up there.

Hmmm, not sure why you think a 125cc tuned two stroke wouldnt be competitive with a 150cc four stroke? Esp as its housed in a Grand Prix chassis and running gear, as opposed to the finest standard Thailand production line, std factory fare.
She was going super quick and certainly keeping pace with Al, shame the bike broke, couldve been interesting!

top day......the first 14 bikes were Suzuki or Honda 4 strokes!!!!!! I achieved my goal and finished in the top ten. I took a punt and fitted a 15 year old Yokohama "NEW" slick Yow Ling gave me some time ago. I took until the 30 min mark to have full confidence in it, although my fastest lap was lap 5 trying to keep pace with LilM and Dan O. My left leg started cramping badly at the end but a hard charging Ange Bunk was giving me a hurry up and Yow Ling was in my sights to put a lap down on him.

If Avalon had finished it would have been a interesting result, but I wonder if Al Hoogie had anything in reserve, Avalon sure made it look easy with smooth lines. No wonder she was fast on that thing I pushed/towed her back to the pits and even with the chain binding with the broken engine mount it was effortless to push.

Lol, yes saw the results and some unhappy faces. It was great to meet some of you guys, I can't wait to get out there and mix it with the tailenders as I'm sure it will take me a few practices/races to get going.

Yea I bet, it was hard enough trying to stand up straight and motionless to take photos let alone riding in it. Whats a good pair of gloves to race with? I have 3 pairs of standard leather ones but would like to get some with decent reinforced protection.

Wow, just as well you had slicks. Are you running a braided brake line on the front of your FXR? I was thinking about getting one but not sure if it's worth it.

A broken engine mount saves 14 4 strokes from total humiliation at the hands of a little Auckland girl on a home tuned 2-stroke.

That girl from Auckland can sure ride........next year........the boys had better find some more Hp.

Yes it truly was an awesome day.
HUGE thanks to Wallace for organising the transponders. They were very professional and it was brilliant that we all got a printout of the race - where we came - 23rd in my case - fastest lap, what lap was your fastest etc.
Big thanks to the flaggies, many of whom had never been a flaggie before - a little hiccup with the ambo, but I don't think any of the radios were working, I know that the starter didn't have one.
Big thanks to CAMS for allowing us to hijack their event.
It was nice to race on B track again. We had 38 starters and 28 people finished the BOB. The highlight of my day was actually lapping someone! I also enjoyed watching the battle between LilM and Dan, every time they lapped me they were battling amongst themselves.
Commiserations to Avalon, through no fault of her own she was a DNF, before she had to pull out - engine mount broke - she was battling with Al Hoogie and doing brilliantly. I was counting how many times they lapped me but gave up after about 6 times!!!!
Also I hope John is OK after his off and trip in the ambo.
The hairpin saw a bit of carnage, especially in the race before the BOB. Andy managed to finish BOB stuck in 4th. He got sick of waiting around at the hairpin for the race to finish.
Another big thanks to Johnny for taking some great photos, downloaded them last night and I am very impressed.

Thanks to all who turned up to enjoy the day, Pity about the wind but at least it was sunny and not snowing like last year!!!!

So when are you South Island Bucket Ladies going to pack up your buckets and head up to Wellington for a try of Kaitoke track? I get lonely being usually the only chick riding here! How about Easter??

A top ride Bren. You were the only old timer able to keep the kids honest.
Until Avalon broke down I think the top 6 were all teenagers except Bren.
And these 6 are pretty quick, 3 are current top 5 125GP nationally ranked, one No4 Pro Twin. Al's bike is good, but he's definitely a top class rider. That's why he won. My pick of "rider of the day" was Angela Buunk. Her first time on a bucket and finished 10th. A few weeks ago she raced a 1929 Ariel (complete with hand change!) at Wyndham. She is all class and only 16.
