Are they just deliberately sabotaging the economy? How many skilled Kiwis are going to say ‘enough is enough’ and just get the f’k out?

Just wait until NZ goes broke and then hope for some decisive action.

I've had my share of redundancies over the years. I eventually found myself on the dole for what I swore would be the last time so started night school classes, then an access to Uni. course for a second year (teaching guitar on the side to pay for exams and fees - f'k all was free even if you were on the dole). After two years I'd a place at Uni. and five years later I'd a first class degree, MSc and qualified teacher status (and a huge student loan...). Anyway, I haven't needed the dole for fifteen years now so maybe there really is an answer in adult education.
Thread's now heading on a tangent, away from the actual issue being mentioned but this does require further discussion. I think the education is a good idea, people are learning and (hopefully) going on to make a difference.

Let's not forget, prior to the current economic bullshit, NZ had the lowest unemployment rate in decades, someone WAS doing a good job.

I have been made redundant 4 times which is a lot for someone so young. I put myself through night school to get my degree (took 10 years) NEVER once asked for tax payer support.

I cleaned shitty offices in the middle of the night. To be honest I am sick to death of people just putting their hand out. Maori Welfare....shhssss. If they want to fund it themselves they can go for it.

If average bloke on the street has to fund a separate race's health... cant see that going down well. Funded by Maori... hmm will that really happen? Its shit separating races who live in one country... leads down an ugly path.

Maybe there should be a march on Parliament... maybe call it Bro oi. Maybe not.

hmmm used to be a system that did something similar by basing Govt support on race...... Apartheid.

Well, separate from what? I mean, taxpayer money pays for maori beneficiaries now right? Including Maori taxpayers. And with this thing ... taxpayer money will pay for Maori beneficiaries ...

Just seems like a load of bureaucratic crap? Granted all I've read about it is in this thread..

Huh? Where did the notion that the funding would come from Maori taxpayers only come from? Doesn't every tax payer get equally screwed for this scheme? And when they run out of money, they'll probably borrow from ACC which will lead to an increase in ACC PAYE premiums... oh and vehicle regos

If it means the money that is already being spent on maori beneficiaries, is going to be managed by a different body then ok I guess, it is the same shit just wearing a different hat.

If however it means taxpayers have to pay MORE to support Whanau Ora, then the treaty of Waitangi may as we be used as toilet paper and flushed. It still boggles me why all the time and effort has been spent trying to implement this system.

One nation, one people, one flag.

    My arse.

Thought I would just highlight a portion of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS

    Article 2.

    Article 21.

    * (1) Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representatives.
    * (2) Everyone has the right of equal access to public service in his country.
    * (3) The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government; this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections which shall be by universal and equal suffrage and shall be held by secret vote or by equivalent free voting procedures.
