    Whats a 2006 ZX10R worth?

Thinking of getting a 2006/2007 ZX10R, there dont seem to be many around for sale on trademe etc.

    Whats the going rate?

I'd have to sell my baby, TL1000S (wipes away tear)
    1999, ~80,000 kays average condition.

What do you think is realistic price to ask for it?

    Cheers

Sorry to be off topic, but are you choosing 06/07 because of the look before they changed to what they are now, or because they're cheaper?

Dont like the look of the new ones, kinda insectoid transformer. The 2006/2007 has a nice rounded look, a bit organic like the TL...

So your choosing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle over the Transformer?

Fair enough. There are other reasons to go for the more "old school" one.
More room, less track focused, less sharp bits if you can it, steady supply of second hand parts, someone else already took the "facelift depreciation" when the new model became available.

What it's worth really depends on condition, colour, kms.
Try this search. Seems $9999 is the asking. Give or take.
And that's about what you'll need to pay for a uncrashed tidy one.
Start taking money off for things your not keen on.

When I was working at a car yard the manager told me if your feeling like your stomach is doing flips your close to the right price, a fair price is when you both think you ripped each other off.

If you find one you like and are still unsure of what to pay take it along to a proffessional third party for assessment. Most MTA or LMVD bike shops will do an assessment relatively cheaply. Certainly cheaper than a lemon.

I know what you mean. If I was looking for a thou I would definitely choose the older one. Looks "fat" but the new one just looks ugly!

I took a 2006 model for a spin after trashing my R1 and was pleasantly suprised. With a full Akrapovic exhaust the thing sounded superb, went really well and had a lot more character than a lot of other japanese sportsbikes. Find one with a a set of slip ons or full exhaust already fitted and save yourself some real $$$ 'cos the twin can set up isn't cheap.

    It's a helluva lotta bike for $10-11k.

    I'm biased, I had one.

An awesome machine, way more comfortable (for me) than the R1 or the Blade. A proper mans bike. The clutch is heavier than the others, it's bigger than the R1 to sit on but a really good seat which can handle long rides.

I bought a second set of cans and chopped an inch off. Wasn't loud but had a deep sound. Easily sounded the best in our group and the Blade owner and R1 owner agreed.
The motor absolutely rips up top and saw 284 on the speedo, still pulling, that with a speedohealer installed.

The only negative for the bike, is the front brakes. For road riding they are fine. Take it to track and you will have issues with fade. A good fix is a set of ZX14 calipers, or Blade or R1 ones. The ZX14 are pretty much bolt on though.

    I deeply regret selling mine.
