Looking like I'll make it to Levels but need a front slick for an FXR. I have a cut one but can't get it to bead properly on the rim so would like a normal slick thats not too old if anyone has one for sale?
Went to fit my replacement chain and its about 3 links too short so need to go back to the shop,.
Will buy a licence on the day.![]()

90 or 95 section slicks should bead up fine on an FXR rim.
Make sure the rim is clean and free from corrosion damage. Then a thin film of grease on both tyre and rim, (only where it "beads")
Then a bit of dishwashing liquid as you bead it up. I put them up to 50 pound for half an hour to settle them then back to 32 to balance them. Never had a problem yet, following this procedure. If you're really stuck, PM me and I'll get you a good S/H front slick suitable.
The rim is all good, I'm thinking the tyre is getting well past it's use by date, its a Michelin 9/58-17. I tried dishwashing liquid with water and then straight dishwashing liquid, pumped the tyre up to 65 psi and it still didn't want to bead. I'll PM you and see what you've got, thanks for your reply![]()

Went and changed the chain today and got one thats the correct length. So the bucket is almost there, just need to sort out my front tyre. Thanks Oyster for your offer,

Hi Guys. Is anyone going from Dunedin that has space for a bike and person share petrol costs, or even just a bike please?
I expect to have the new bike sorted by then. Just got a 1987 FZR 1000 for the pre 89 class, bit of a change from the Motards.
If you can help can you email me please as I wont be near the phone most of the time.
email gary.burrows@otagomotorcycleclub.org.nz
Thanks
GaZ
PS. Hey does anyone know if you can get slicks for an 160/60-18 rear?
Thanks Yow And Kick. Thats what my initial suspicions were but was hoping for the easy (cheaper) option as usual.
Shop wont be available on the day. Make sure you take your lunch and liquids.

Wow what a day, I'm absolutely shagged. A big thank you to the CAMS club and marshalls for putting the racing on, my first race day and first time to Levels, what an awesome track. A big thank you to all who gave me advice and helped me when the bike didn't play ball in one race. Look forward to improving further and passing some of you, he he.![]()

When I started I was amazed at how quick you guys were taking the corners, it was great to watch from the back and new I just had to overcome the brain block of getting the bike over further, was getting there in the end but still a lot of room for improvement. Still didn't get my knees down even with my long legs so need to get over a bit more.![]()
