Some off the Harleys that arrive at Puhoi are on the obnoxious side of annoying when it comes to nosie, a part of the Harley ownership manual is 'fuck im cool as bro' but on the whole, they dont bother me. I get a laugh when they leave, the storm off at a great rate then you hear them hit 3rd and slow. There is a bit of 'showmanship' involved im sure.

I know one Harley owner/rider that does not belong to the certain group of which you speak.

But fuck! have seen some of those posing sport bike wankers, the bastards think they are so clever, I would give them a wide birth

I don't see what the issue is really. If I'm coming up the motorway and happen to see a group of Harleys ahead I don't treat them any differently than any other bike I might pass.

If I were to see skull bandanas over their faces way below their fully upstretched arms, and scary looking patches on the backs of their amusing leather "jackets" I would simply pass them without giving any impression of having seen them. The reason for this is I have learnt that eye contact is usually best avoided with such people, regardless of mode of travel.

If it came to them "catching up" in heavy traffic and getting aggro I'd probably open my visor so they could see I'm just a girlie - not worth getting worked up over. (Then ensure I part company with them asap even if it meant not going quite where I was headed!!!)

That's some quality work right there.
Not kids, yr12's, out of sport bikes and naked tourer's they all choose Harleys an these guys have a big reputation on the coast. Sure Harleys may be good road bikes but I think by majority there is that "persona" about em that draws its attention.

Hell we even conspired to make a gang or group to go for rides during class like just walk out and ride, so we asked the toughest baddest guy in the college and waddya know he wants a Harley. It never worked though, they cant get motorcycle licences because they have crim records racing cars an other stuff. It would of been so hard out we would of made a true 'fight club'.

Just to balance the equation a little, there is a dude that I often see when riding home from work. He rides a Harley. Complete with high bars and open face helmet.
Every time he sees me on my puttery SV, he gives me the head nod and a big grin. Which I duly acknowledge in kind.
Not everyone is tarred with the same brush.

I think he lives in some sort of alternative reality.

Little children with big reputations on the coast is comedy gold.

Even though I ride a sports bike, I can sey I understand the charm of a cruiser/chopper. I even owned one years ago as a teenager. I have nothing against harley riders or cruiser riders as a whole. I know there are quite a few good people that ride cruisers.

However, statistically speaking the majority of cruiser riders are assholes. For example, as a beginner, riding my 250 with the L plate visible, with a couple of exceptions, all the bikes overtaking me dangerously and in corners have been cruisers. I've had big sports bikes waiting patiently behind me until the road was straight/wide enough to pass me safely, but I don't think I have seen any cruiser to wait until it was safe to pass me.

What I am trying to say is that riding a cruiser doesn't make you an asshole, and I am willing to stick to the "innocent until provel guilty" method, but on the other hand, everytime I see on the road a cruiser or a group of them, I keep in mind that there is a very high chance they are assholes and take all necessary precautions. That saved my skin a few times, including the time when the guy on a hog decided to suddenly start swerving left and right on the lane just as I was passing him, to force me back or on the oncoming traffic. Luckly for me it didn't took me by surprise because I was watching him closely so I just opened full throttle and bolted past him before he reached me.
